The essence of Muramatsu-cho's Shishimai festival is the seven-waking dance, and in the afternoon the dance is performed at various crossroads in the town.
The act of wielding a long sword called ``heibai'' is used to exorcise evil spirits. At night, a large bonfire is lit, and around it the young people who are in charge of the festival and the head of the festival engage in fierce jostling.
