This festival is said to have a deep connection with the "Dandarabotchi Legend". A large waraji, about 2 meters long and 1 meter wide, made two days before the main festival, and a bamboo basket woven from bamboo and thatch are placed in the worship hall of the shrine, and then dedicated.
The waraji, which was carried by young people from the area, left the shrine and was placed on the beach of Suba where it was purified by a Shinto priest, after which it was carried into the sea, handed over to a fishing boat at sea, and then towed further out to sea where it was carried by the Great King. Released near the island. Dandarabocchi, said to be the one-eyed giant, is said to have symbolized a typhoon, and is said to be the wisdom of ancient people about coexistence with nature. On March 17, 1971 (S46), it was designated as an intangible folk cultural asset by the prefecture as ``Nakiri no Waraji Hiki''.
