Spring garden with blooming rhododendrons, the queen of flowering trees
Rhododendrons are known as the ``queen of flowering trees'' due to their gorgeous and elegant appearance, with a variety of flower colors including red, pink, bluish-purple, white, and yellow.
At Akatsuka Botanical Garden, part of the production farm has been developed as a rhododendron garden, which is open to the public only during the flowering season.
In 2024, the park is scheduled to be open from Tuesday, April 2nd to Tuesday, April 30th.
Akatsuka Botanical Garden began original hybridization of rhododendrons in 1981 and has created numerous varieties.
The Rhododendron Garden is home to approximately 3,000 rhododendrons of over 200 species, including original varieties from Akatsuka Botanical Garden that can only be seen here. The flowering relay continues until the end of the month.
In addition, flowering trees that reach their peak bloom around this time of the year, such as Japanese daisy, Japanese witch hazel, redbud, Genpei peach, and double cherry blossom, are also planted, and you can enjoy them together with the rhododendrons.
Rhododendron Garden is a rare garden where you can enjoy rhododendrons, which are originally alpine species, even though they are located in a lowland area. Please enjoy your spring stroll.
Akatsuka Rhododendron Garden faces Prefectural Route 10. During the blooming season, a 500 meter area along the prefectural road is covered in pink flowers, pleasing the eyes of passersby.

Take the Mie Kotsu bus bound for Mukumoto from Kintetsu Tsu Station (east exit) platform 4.
Get off at the Shinde bus stop and follow the blue flag along the road as a landmark (1 minute walk).
