Tsu Kannon has been a temple that has protected the evil spirits of the town of Tsu since ancient times. The ``Oni Oshie Ceremony,'' which continued until the Edo period, was known as a ``strange festival,'' with descriptions of criminals being slashed with real Japanese swords, and was so violent that it was canceled at the end of the Edo period. Nowadays, it has been revived and many people come here to exorcise evil spirits throughout the year.
