On May 20th, 2019, "Toba-Shima, a town where you can meet ama (female divers) - women who make a living from free diving fishing" was designated as a "Japan Heritage" by the Agency for Cultural Affairs.
We introduce the female diver culture through the works of Yoshio Deguchi and Kohei Yamamoto.
This work captures the lively images of female divers who live in harmony with the sea.
