Niiname Festival/Atago Shrine Festival [TsubakiGrandShrine]

Date: December 1st every year

Niinamesai is one of the most important festivals held throughout the year.
In the Imperial Palace, a funeral service is held on November 23rd and 24th, during which His Majesty offers mikemiki, made from fresh grains, to the Tenjin Jigi, and his parents also listen to this.
This shrine holds a funeral service on this day due to historical reasons, and prays for peace and prosperity for the imperial family, the nation, and the people.

The annual festival will also be held at Atago Shrine, which is located on the top of Mt. Kagura. Atago Shrine is a shrine that is deeply believed to protect against fires as the god of fire protection.
