The biggest event of the year is held every year on the first day of the tree in March at Saiwai Shrine, which is affectionately known as "Sainokami" by the locals. The Gohonzon is unveiled and a festival is held to pray for prosperity, peace, and a safe year. There are also stalls set up and the festival is crowded with people.
