Water God Festival to give thanks for precious water

On the first Sunday of August, our shrine holds a Water God Festival (a water purification ritual) to give thanks for the precious water, and pray that the water supply will never run out and that disasters such as floods will never occur in our lives.

The origin of this ritual originates from an ancient ritual to pray for rain, and according to the shrine's legend, ``In 1726, a long drought continued and the grain plants withered, and the troubled villagers prayed to the shrine. At the village, they offered heihaku (offerings to the gods) and prayed for rain. Then, mysteriously, the clear sky suddenly began to cloud, thunder rumbled, and heavy rain began to fall.Seeing this, the villagers It is said that the wishes of the villagers have come true, saying, ``This is a very grateful deity whose power increases through the sincerity of people's respect.''

Also, at this time of year, there is a custom of drawing the ``Kobe no Mizu'' that springs up on the grounds of this shrine, washing your head and feet with the sacred water, and taking a bath to pray for good health.
