★Table of contents

1. “Yoshi Onii-san” Learn about the history and culture of Ama divers!

The Toba-Shima region is the ``hometown of ama divers'' with the largest number of ama divers in Japan.

It is said that ama fishing has been practiced for over 2,000 years, and the ama culture has been recognized as a "Japan Heritage". (Toba/Shima, a town where you can meet Ama - women who live by free diving fishing)

Kazari: ``I've come to the Ama Museum. At this facility, you can learn about the history and culture of Ama divers.''

Yoshi Onii-san: “Let’s go right away!”

When I went inside...

Yoshi-niisan: "Wow, that's amazing! The tools used by Ama divers are on display."

Kazari-san: ``This room is said to be a reproduction of an actual `` AmaHut(Amagoya)'' that Ama divers use to take breaks while fishing.☆

Yoshi-niisan: "Oh! There's a picture of the Ama divers over there!"

Kazari: "Everyone is wearing matching white costumes."

2. ``Yoshi Onii-san'' takes a walk in ama diver wear ``Isogi''!

Kazari: “Here at the Ama Museum, you can actually wear the Isogi, the Ama costume! Why don’t you try it on too?”

Yoshi-niisan: "It's a valuable experience. I'd definitely like to try it on♪"

So, I decided to try it on!

Yoshi Onii-san: “Okay! I changed my clothes~”

Kazari-san: “Okay, brother, how are you doing??”

Yoshi Onii-san: "Kazari-san, it suits you! How is it comfortable?"

Kazari: "Thank you. It's warm♪"

Yoshi Onii-san: "I chose the largest size, but it was a little small (lol)"

3. “Yoshi Onii-san” Enjoy the seafood of Ise-Shima at AmaHut(Amagoya)!

Next, ``Yoshio-niisan'' and ``Kazari'' came to Satoumi-an, an AmaHut(Amagoya)experience facility.

Kazari: “I would like to listen to the stories of Ama divers and enjoy some seafood!”

Yoshi-niisan: "Hello~. Sorry to bother you."

Ama-san: "Welcome. Please come in."

The person who welcomed us was Ms. Hayashi, an active ama diver.

While waiting for the seafood to be grilled, we will talk to Mr. Hayashi.

Kazari: “Since when have you been working as an ama diver?”

Hayashi: "I've been diving as an ama diver for over 50 years, since I was a teenager. I've never thought of quitting. My mother and grandmother were both ama divers, so..."

Yoshi-nii-san: "Over 50 years! That's amazing. How deep do you dive?"

Mr. Hayashi: ``It depends on the person, but when I was young, I used to dive 15 to 6 meters.''

Yoshi-niisan: "That's right! That's cool. Do you dive all year round as an ama diver?"

Mr. Hayashi: ``From March to September 14th, when divers can fish, they catch abalone, turban shells, and turban shells.''

First, we had grilled turban shells.

Yoshi Onii-san: "I'll take it. Mmm, it's delicious. Looks like it would go well with alcohol."

Kazari: "Even though it's not seasoned, the aroma of the ocean fills your mouth and it's delicious♪ It goes well with Japanese sake!"

Finally...luxury! I'll have a whole Ise lobster.

Mr. Hayashi: "The color changes as it bakes."

Yoshi-niisan: "It's true. The color is pinkish."

It's baked nicely! Hayashi-san peels the spiny lobster and we eat it.

Yoshi Onii-san: "A whole fish! That's so exciting! I'll eat it!"

Yoshi-niisan: "It's amazingly chewy! It's really sweet!"

Kazari: “The body is really plump♪”

lastly···

Yoshio-san: "AmaHut(Amagoya)experience facility was fun. The seafood was delicious. ShimaCity has not only AmaHut(Amagoya)experience facility, but also cycling, camping, and Yokoyama, a scenic spot with a panoramic view of Ago Bay. There are many spots that parents and children can enjoy together, such as the Tenku Cafe Terrace (Yokoyama Observation Deck). I definitely want to come again."
