We covered famous places in KumanoCity! We took a relaxing break at the Kumano Club, and then went on a tour of Kumano's famous spots.

This time, I traveled from Ise to KumanoCity in the afternoon and stayed at Kumano Club. The room in the photo is Mangetsuan in Hanare "Sakura Village". I was surprised at how spacious the room was!
The photo shows only the Japanese-Western room, but the bedroom is separate and even has a kitchen. This is a recommended room for a relaxing stay in Kumano.

There is an open-air bath made of Kumano cedar on the balcony. On the day of the interview, it was already late in the evening and the weather wasn't great, but the view was still spectacular! You can take a relaxing bath while looking at the mountains of Kumano.

We had dinner at Kokuu in Kumano Club. This is also a calm building with chic colors. For the meal course, I had ``Karyo''. As the name suggests, the seasonal kaiseki and seasonal ingredients are very luxurious.
There are 10 dishes, and you choose either fish or meat for your main dish. The picture shows fish, but I had the "Beautiful Kumano Beef Steak" (sorry I don't have a picture). One of my companions also chose the beautiful Kumano beef steak, and while I was explaining the dish, he put it in his mouth and exclaimed, "It's delicious!"
Kumano Club has various facilities.

There are also other trial programs available.

There are also electric bicycles available for rent, so I would like to cycle around KumanoCity next time.

The next day, we moved to the World Heritage Site, Hana-no-Iwaya. Hana-no-Iwaya appears in Japan's first history book, Nihon Shoki, in the first chapter of the Age of Gods, as a ``stage for domestic production.'' Even now, the regular festival (Otsunakake Shinto ritual) is held on February 2nd and October 2nd every year, and many people come to worship.
A 70m high rock is the object of worship at Hana-no-Iwaya.

Next, I went to Otsuna Chaya in front of Hana-no-Iwaya. This facility opened last year, and the wooden atmosphere of the building fits perfectly with Hana-no-Iwaya.
You can enjoy many ancient rice menu items such as ancient rice mitarashi dango, ancient rice otsuna mochi, ancient rice udon, and ancient rice rice balls. Speaking of Kumano, I had Mehari-sushi.

And there was a banner in the Otsuna Chaya that caught my attention... Is there a bear inside the bowl?

KumanoCity is currently holding a "Kumanodon Fair". Each restaurant in KumanoCity has its own original bowl menu, and if you eat a bowl from each restaurant at a stamp rally, you can get a stamp. If you apply with a stamp, you will be entered into a lottery to win gorgeous prizes!
The event period is from May 26, 2013 to March 31, 2014.

By the way, Tsuna Chaya served "Izanami Rice Mikumano Beef Bowl". I couldn't eat it because of my stomach, but I'll definitely try it next time!

Next up is Shishiiwa, a world heritage site known for its impressive face. The view of Shishiiwa while walking along Shichirimihama is spectacular.

The last stop is Onigajo a world heritage site. Onigajo is a natural product created by uplift, weathering, and wave erosion. In the photo, you can see a small person in the lower left, but when you actually go to the site, the ceiling is very high, and it looks as if it is covering you, giving it an impressive effect.

Currently Onigajo is constructing the "KumanoCity Onigajo Center Complex" for August 2013. Let's look forward to its opening!
The expressway is scheduled to be connected from nagashima Interchange to Kumano by the end of 2013. Travel time will be shorter! Next year marks the 10th anniversary of Kumano Kodo being registered as a World Heritage Site. Everyone, please come and visit KumanoCity.

Onigajo is a large rock wall created by uplift from earthquakes, weathering, and wave erosion. In addition to being designated as a national scenic spot and natural monument, it is also registered as a World Heritage Site as part of the "Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes of the Kii Mountain Range." There is a promenade for about 1km along the rock wall, and you can enjoy the numerous caves large and small, as well as the strangely shaped rocks. At the top of the mountain, there are castle ruins from the Sengoku period, and there is a hiking course that connects it to Kumano Kodo and Matsumoto Pass. You can see the entire Kumano Sea from the observation deck called Oni-no-Miharashi. There are many cherry blossom trees planted along the hiking trail to the top of the mountain, and in spring, four types of cherry blossoms bloom one after another, pleasing the eyes of tourists who visit for a long time. Hana-no-Iwaya is mentioned as a ``stage for domestic production'' in the first part of the Age of Gods of Japan's first history book, Nihon Shoki, which was written in 720 (Nara period). This place has an important meaning as the ancient sacred place ``Kumano of Kumano'', which predates the Kumano Sanzan faith, and is truly a place that can be called the roots of the Japanese people. History books mention that the sacred treasures were moved from Hana-no-Iwaya to Hongu Taisha. Just as written in the Nihon Shoki, the annual festival is still held on February 2nd and October 2nd every year, and many people come to worship.
