What is TenkaizanTaiunjiTemple?
TenkaizanTaiunjiTemple is a temple in the Haze district of Iidaka-cho MatsusakaCity, located halfway up a mountain at an altitude of 400 to 500 meters.
The precincts are surrounded by nature, and you can enjoy the scenery in each season: cherry blossoms and rhododendrons in spring, fresh greenery in summer, and autumn leaves in autumn.
FugamaruTaiunji Temple was founded in 1740, and is popular as the Kannon statue that bestows children.
Prefectural Tangible Cultural Property “Octagonal Copper Bell”
The octagonal bronze bell "Hakkaku Dosho" on the grounds is a large bell with a height of 2.65m and a diameter of 1.35m, and is designated as a tangible cultural property of Mie Prefecture.
The top of the bell is decorated with eight dragons, and each side is inscribed with one volume of the Lotus Sutra, totaling 69,384 characters from eight volumes.
In autumn, the autumn leaves spread around the Octagonal Copper Bell, allowing you to enjoy the elegant and beautiful autumn scenery.
In thisarticle, we will introduce in detail the autumn foliage season and highlights of Taiunji Temple.
how to access
Taiun-ji Temple can be accessed by walking through the pilgrimage route along National Route 166.
At the entrance to the pilgrimage route, there is a sign that says ``Koyasu Kannon Daikokuten'', and on the nearby road there is a road sign that says `` TenkaizanTaiunjiTemple'', so it is easy to find the pilgrimage route if you use these as landmarks.
The pilgrimage road is narrow and has a gentle slope, so move carefully and watch out for oncoming traffic. It takes about 5 minutes to arrive near the entrance of the approach.
When the autumn leaves are in full bloom, traffic can increase and the roads can become crowded, so if you want to avoid the crowds, we recommend going early in the morning or on weekdays.
Parking location
There are 7 parking spaces near the entrance to the approach and 2 spaces near the main hall, both of which have parking spaces for wheelchairs.
There is a toilet in the parking lot near the entrance to the approach, and there are also toilets for infants and wheelchairs.
Although it is located halfway up Mt. Chamu, it is nice to have a barrier-free toilet.
You have to climb about 130 stone steps to reach the main hall, but you can see beautiful nature along the way.
If you want to take a leisurely stroll, we recommend parking near the entrance to the approach.
As I walked along the Chamuapproach, I could hear the chirping of birds and the murmuring of the river, which was very soothing ♫
Autumn leaves season and highlights
You can enjoy the autumn leaves at Taiun-ji Temple from mid-November to early December, and the autumn leaves spread around the approach, the octagonal bronze bell, and the main shrine.
When I visited on November 17, 2021, the autumn leaves of the Octagonal Copper Bell had reached their peak, and the autumn leaves along the approach had fallen.
The autumn leaves at the main shrine were just beginning to change color in some places, so the best time to see them seems to vary depending on the location.
Along the approach, there are not only autumn leaves but also large ginkgo trees, so you can enjoy the colorful autumn scenery.
The charm of Taiunji Temple is that you can feel autumn everywhere in theFugamaru precincts.
Recommended photo spots
Introducing places where you can take pictures of beautiful autumn leaves at Taiunji Temple! The precincts are very large, so you can enjoy taking photos from various viewpoints.
① Red carpet of autumn leaves
When the autumn leaves are at their peak, fallen leaves cover the ground, creating a natural red carpet.
You can see them in various places within the shrine grounds, so please keep your eyes on the ground and enjoy viewing the autumn leaves.
② Octagonal copper bell
The above photo was taken in front of the Octagonal Copper Bell. If you search for ``Taiun-ji Temple'' on Google image search, many images similar to this one will come up, so this is a standard composition.
You can take a photo like this if you take a photo from a standing perspective, but here is a photo with a slightly different perspective ↓
It gave me the feeling of being surrounded by bright red autumn leaves, and the autumn leaves and blue sky were more expansive than in the previous photo. This photo was taken in a squatting position looking up at the Octagonal Bronze Bell.
Another photo from a different angle. This time I took a photo of the Octagonal Copper Bell from the approach.
The ginkgo tree that was not visible in the previous photo is reflected in the background, and the gradation of red, orange, and yellow autumn leaves is a very beautiful sight.
Walk around the Chamuprecincts and take photos of the Octagonal Bronze Bell from your favorite angle ♫
③ Pond × Carp
There is a pond near the main shrine, where red and white carp swim gracefully. Here is a photo of the situation ↓
The autumn leaves falling on the water surface and the carp swimming between them are as beautiful as a picture! You can feel that the compatibility of carp and autumn leaves is perfect.
FugamaruPlease enjoy watching carp from various perspectives. Please be careful not to fall into the pond...
④ Chozuya
There is a water fountain near the pond, and in autumn you can see autumn leaves floating on the water surface. If I had to name this scene, it would be ``Autumn Hanachozu.''
Some of the autumn leaves are floating on the surface of the water, while others are sinking, and the scenery is truly beautiful! It looks like a piece of art that combines the chozuya and the autumn leaves.
Delicious gourmet food near you
Finally, let us introduce you to some delicious gourmet food near you! The location is Hase Station, about 15 minutes by car from Taiunji Temple.
A5 rank Matsusaka beef bowl 1,360 yen
At Hase Station, you can eat a luxurious beef bowl made with A5 rank Matsusaka beef, and the soft meat and juicy taste are addictive!
Since it usesFugamaru Matsusaka beef, the price is more than double that of a regular beef bowl, but I was very satisfied with the taste, which far exceeded the price.
In addition to Matsusaka beef bowl, the food menu includes Hase venison bowl (¥1,430), game curry (¥1,300), and Ise-Udon (¥520), allowing you to enjoy gourmet food unique to this area.
The meal menu is served from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m., so the recommended sightseeing plan is to enjoy Taiunji Temple in the morning and have lunch here.
After lunch, why not cross the suspension bridge right near Michi-no-eki Hase Station and see the beautiful river?
