Miyagawa Tsutsumi, the prefecture's best cherry blossom viewing spot, is a popular spot that has been selected as one of Japan's top 100 cherry blossom viewing spots. As someone who is fascinated by the beautiful rows of cherry blossom trees along the Miyagawa River and goes to see them every year, I will do my best to tell you about the charm of the Miyagawa River!

A father of a naughty daughter and a selfish son who lives in IseCity.
There tends to be an increase in photos of children looking like idiots (lol), but do they look energetic, fun, and cute? We are active with this motto!
After actually going out with my family, I'm sharing the charms of Mie that I highly recommend.
*Photos posted include those taken up to 2021.
Miyagawa Tsutsumi is a 1km-long line of cherry blossom trees in full bloom on the riverbed of the Miyagawa River that flows through IseCity.
It has been selected as one of Japan's top 100 cherry blossom viewing spots, and is a historic cherry blossom viewing spot that has been affectionately known as "Sakura no Watari" since the Edo period.
Most of the cherry blossoms along the Miyagawa River are Yoshino cherry trees, and the best time to see them is usually from late March to early April.
The nearest station is JR Yamada-Kamiguchi Station, which is 900 meters away on foot.
Also, when the cherry blossom season arrives, a parking lot will be set up on the Miyagawa riverbed for visitors.
On holidays, the parking lot can get crowded and you may get stuck in traffic, so we recommend visiting on weekdays or in the mornings and evenings on holidays.
Now, we will introduce recommended spots where you can fully enjoy the cherry blossoms along the Miyagawa River!
Speaking of Miyagawa River, the first thing that comes to mind is the row of cherry blossom trees in full bloom along the riverbed.
The branches of the cherry blossoms extend all the way to the top of the lawn, creating a view that resembles a roof of cherry blossoms.
The rows of cherry blossom trees in full bloom are of course beautiful, but you can also enjoy a different view when the cherry blossoms are falling in the latter half of their peak bloom.
My daughter was in a panic as she was exposed to a blizzard of cherry blossoms caused by the sudden wind (lol)
The row of cherry blossom trees continues all the way to the bank on the south side of Wataibashi Bridge, which spans the central part of Miyagawa Tsutsumi Park.
The cherry blossoms here bloom in a weeping manner from the embankment to the riverbed, making the photo look like you're walking into a tunnel surrounded by cherry blossoms.
The cherry blossoms bloom here close to the eyes of small children, so it's very crowded with people taking portraits.
My sons were more intently observing the grass on the embankment than the beautiful cherry blossoms (bitter smile).
There is a promenade among the cherry blossom trees, which runs through many branches like a maze.
In years when the Cherry Blossom Festival is held, there are many stalls in this area, but in recent years there have been no stalls due to infectious disease prevention measures.
It's a little sad that there are no lively stalls, but instead you can enjoy a 360-degree view of the promenade surrounded by cherry blossoms.
When I looked up at the sky from the promenade, the contrast between the blue sky and the cherry blossoms in full bloom was very vivid.
The cherry blossoms are in full bloom here, so no matter where you look, the scenery is picturesque.
It goes without saying that the blue sky and cherry blossoms on a sunny day are beautiful, but I personally recommend the Miyagawa embankment after the rain.
On this day, there were large puddles all over the riverbed, and the cherry blossoms reflected on the water surface created a fantastical world.
The reflection of the cherry blossom trees on the water is also beautiful.
When taking pictures of reflections on the water surface, it will be easier to take beautiful pictures if you hold your camera or smartphone just above the water surface!
My daughter jumped into a puddle just as I was getting close to her face, and her face got soaked (lol).
If you are photographing reflections on the water surface, please be careful not to get your camera or face wet.
The Miyagawa River is also lit up at night.
We also recommend viewing the cherry blossoms at night along the Miyagawa River, as you can enjoy a different view of the cherry blossoms than during the day.
In 2022, it is scheduled to be illuminated until 9:00 pm from March 26th (Saturday) to April 10th (Sunday).
This concludes our introduction to Miyagawa Tsutsumi, a famous spot for cherry blossom viewing.
There are many cherry blossom viewing spots in Mie Prefecture, but this is a particularly recommended cherry blossom viewing spot because not only is there an overwhelming number of cherry blossoms (approximately 1,000), but also the amount of flowers on each tree is large.
My family loves the cherry blossoms along the Miyagawa River so much that we go to see them every year, so please come and see the cherry blossoms on the Miyagawa River this spring. And if you ever meet us at Miyagawa Tsutsumi, please get along well! (lol)
