What is RedHilForestofHisa?

RedHilForestofHisa in TsuCity is a satoyama garden with over 10,000 flowering trees of approximately 1,000 varieties and is managed by the Akatsuka Botanical Garden Group.

The vast site of approximately 130,000 square meters includes a ``Flower Area'' with an attractive rose garden and water lily pond, and a ``Forest Area'' that encompasses fields and mountains, offering views that change throughout the seasons.

There is a promenade in the park, and you can enjoy walking for about 1 hour just by going around the park ♫

There are many different routes to choose from, including flat, easy-to-walk roads, uphill slopes, and vast grassy areas!

There is also a walking course that is barrier-free, so even those in wheelchairs can safely explore the area.

There are food and drink spaces and vending machines along the way, so you can take a break while walking around!

There are two toilets in the park, and the one near the rose garden was surrounded by flowers and was very beautiful ♫

New spots are opening one after another

In April 2021, the ``Wisteria Garden'' will open where you can see the famous wisteria trees that came from the foot of Mt. Fuji, and in February 2022, the ``Plum Garden'' will open where you can see plums over 3 meters tall. Did!

Since it opened in 2016, it has become more and more powerful ♫

We will explain the charm of Red Hill Heather in detail by dividing it into the ``forest area'' and ``flower area.''

What does Red Hill mean?

There are many Semper Sequoias, known as the world's tallest tree, planted in the park.

To commemorate the 2000 millennium, 1,000 Sempersequoias were planted. Since then, it has been carefully managed as a symbol tree.

It was named `` RedHilForestofHisa'' after Semper Sequoia's other name, ``redwood.''

FugamaruThe "redwood forest" is a sight to behold, where redwoods with a height of over 30m are densely packed together! We will explain in detail in the “Forest Area” section later in the article ♫

flower area

Here we will introduce carefully selected recommended spots from the 12 flower areas.

entrance entrance

The entrance to RedHilForestofHisa is decorated with seasonal flowers.

The exotic brick gate and brightly colored flowers are picturesque ♫

The day of the interview was in early August, so summer flowers such as Titanbicus and Sunpatiens were in full bloom.

welcome garden

The flower garden located just after passing through the entrance is the Welcome Garden.

A flower bed decorated with seasonal flowers will welcome you ♫

It's a spacious area, so it's a perfect spot for group photos.

water lily pond

The ``Water Lily Pond'' is an area that reminds you of Monet's famous painting ``Water Lilies.'' You can see about 1,000 water lilies of 10 varieties.

It is a very popular spot in RedHilForestofHisa, where you can see colorful water lilies from July to October.

When I visited in early August, the cute yellow, red, and pink water lilies were in full bloom.

Many types of water lilies close their flowers in the afternoon, so if you want to see them in full bloom, we recommend visiting from 9:30am to 10am, right after the park opens ♫

If you cross the pier that leads into the pond, you can see the water lilies up close.

When you look into the water lily pond through the picture frame set up on the promenade, it feels like you're looking at a painting.

"Olive Bridge" over the water lily pond creates a nice atmosphere ♫

You can also see the water lily pond from Olive Bridge.

*Picture frames will only be installed during the season when water lilies are in full bloom.

path with sunlight filtering through the trees

A few minutes walk from the water lily pond, there is a path surrounded by greenery where you can enjoy the pleasant sunlight filtering through the leaves on sunny days!

It was a place where you could feel cool even on a hot summer day ♫

If you go straight ahead from here, you will arrive at the Rose Garden, which I will introduce next.

rose garden

The rose garden is an area where you can admire 1,500 roses of about 400 varieties, and it has a fairy-tale atmosphere that makes you feel like you're in a fairyland.

The fountain in the center is surrounded by roses, and it's picturesque no matter where you look at it ♫

Spring roses can be enjoyed in full bloom from mid-May to mid-June.

Autumn roses are at their best from mid-October to early November, and you can see the delicate colors and scents of roses.

It is an area where you can enjoy two different seasons in one year.

One of the most impressive sights is the sight of roses decorating the entire brick wall!

One of the charms of a rose garden is that you can see roses blooming densely.

It was a very relaxing space surrounded by the sweet scent of roses ♫

wisteria garden

The wisteria garden is newly opened on April 24, 2021, with 22 famous and giant wisteria trees that came from the foot of Mt. Fuji.

If you look closely, you can see many wisterias with different shapes and forms, such as long wisteria whose clusters hang down over 100 cm, and double black dragon wisteria that looks like grapes ♫

One of the charms of a wisteria garden is that wisteria comes in many colors, including purple, red, and white.

Among them, the wisteria variety with golden leaves is so rare that its name has not yet been determined.

Please try to find where it is ♫

The wisteria garden is open from late April to early May, and detailed dates can be found on the official website.

plum garden

The plum garden is an area where a total of 45 weeping plums and standing plums are planted, and it opened on February 4, 2022.

The approximately 3,000㎡ site is full of impressive plum trees that are over 3 meters tall, including weeping plum trees that are over 5 meters high♫

The weeping plum tree, which is over 5 meters tall, is given the name ``Shiryu,'' and its thick trunk and countless plum blossoms hanging down were a sight to behold.

There are log benches around the plum trees, so you can sit and admire the plums up close ♫

The plum garden is open from early February to early March, and detailed dates can be found on the official website.

forest area

Here we will introduce carefully selected recommended spots from the 13 spots in the forest area.

Pond of the heart

Kokoro no Ike is a pond created with the image of the kanji character for ``kokoro'' (heart). It is a spot that symbolizes RedHilForestofHisa, and the surrounding area is surrounded by beautiful green trees.

As I walked around, I could hear the sound of water and the chirping of birds, so I was able to relax and forget about the hustle and bustle of everyday life ♫

When we visited in early August, beautiful water lilies were blooming in the pond, and we also enjoyed observing insects such as water striders and dragonflies.

redwood forest

"Redwood Forest" is an area where Semper Sequoia (also known as redwood) is the origin of the name RedHilForestofHisa.

Semper sequoias are planted all over the park, but in the redwood forest you can see Semper sequoia trees that are over 30 meters tall.

What's more, it's not just one tree, but multiple trees clustered together, so it's a great sight to see.

Scenes like this are rare even in Japan, so you'll feel like you're overseas.

Row of water pine trees/Momiji Valley

Just a short walk from the redwood forest, there is a row of water pine trees.

This is one of the best spots for autumn leaves in the park, where you can see the fiery colored water pines!

Nearby is the "Momiji Valley" where you can admire the Japanese maple and the Japanese maple, and you can enjoy viewing the autumn leaves while walking along the gentle slope ♫

Wind Gate (observation deck)

The Wind Gate is an observation deck that overlooks the cityscape of TsuCity, and on a clear day, it's a spectacular view point that overlooks Ise Bay!

If you use binoculars, you can enjoy the view of the sea and townscape even more ♫

Why not sit on the bench and take your time to enjoy the spectacular view?

Miharashi stand

Miharashidai is an area with a good view overlooking the water lily pond with few obstructions.

On a sunny day, the blue sky will fill you up, so you might feel like you're hiking on top of a mountain ♫

You can see the garden below, which changes color with rhododendrons and cherry blossoms in the spring, and with autumn leaves in the fall.

Sakura Square

Sakura no Hiroba is an area where various varieties of cherry blossoms bloom, and you can enjoy a colorful display of cherry blossoms such as double-flowered shogetsu and kanzan, and turmeric cherry blossoms with yellow petals.

There are antique wooden benches and swings around the cherry blossoms, so you might be able to take a commemorative photo ♫

In the summer, there is a beautiful green lawn, making it the perfect place to run and play with your children.

I tried lying down under the shade of the tree, and it felt cool even in the summer.

Souvenir corner

After enjoying RedHilForestofHisa, why not enjoy picking up souvenirs at the shop at the entrance?

In addition to stylish tableware, dried flowers and artificial flowers, we have a wide variety of items, including antique accessories and cosmetics developed by the Akatsuka Botanical Garden Group ♫

Flower seedlings were lined up outside the shop, including some of the flowers I had seen in RedHilForestofHisa.

If you look at the flowers in the garden and find something you like, why not buy it here and take it as a souvenir?

Just down the stairs from the entrance is Asatsumi one of the largest direct sales stores for agricultural products in the prefecture.

At Asatsumi, you can purchase not only vegetables and fruits produced in this area, but also specialty products such as Ise GreenTea and Mie brand rice, so please give it a try as well.

We also sell delicious homemade side dishes and bento boxes ♫

What did you think

We have delivered plenty of the charm of Red Hill Heather. There are many spots that I couldn't introduce here, so please go there and check them out♫
