Thorough explanation of Nabananosato Summer Illumination 2023 This year's attention is the new Begonia Night Carnival!

In 2023, summer illumination has started at "Nabananosato" in KuwanaCity Town, nagashima. When you think of Nabananosato, the winter illuminations come to mind, but the summer illuminations are also evolving year by year. This year's highlight is the "Begonia Night Carnival" performance held in the Begonia Garden. In this article, we will thoroughly explain the highlights of Nabananosato Summer Illumination 2023, as well as lighting hours, access, and parking.

Nabananosato Summer Illumination 2023?

milky way

When you think of Nabananosato, you often think of winter illuminations, but this year will be the 4th time that summer illuminations will be held. This year's highlight, as mentioned in the headline, is the performance of the ``Begonia Night Carnival'' held in the Begonia Garden.

In addition, around the pond in the center of Nabananosato, there are illuminations inspired by the Milky Way, bamboo lanterns and Japanese umbrellas that give you a Japanese atmosphere, and the trees are beautifully colored with magical lights as they sway in the night breeze. I was able to enjoy the cool summer night slowly. This time we will bring you a thorough report of this wonderful event.

Recommended way to go around

The time when you can see the illuminations varies depending on the day. If the lights start at 19:00 and end at 21:00, you can watch for 2 hours, but if the lights start at 18:00 and end at 22:00, you can watch for 4 hours. We recommend checking opening hours and lighting start times before you go.

The restaurant has an order stop near the end of business, so if you are going to eat inside the park, it might be best to eat during daylight hours. It might be a good idea to check the time when the lights start lighting up at the Begonia Garden before visiting other locations. When the lights start, it may be too bright outside and it may be difficult to see the illuminations.

Highlight ① New arrival “Begonia Night Carnival”

A special event called "Begonia Night Carnival" is being held at the Begonia Garden (admission fee not included). Blooming flowers, music, and light effects combine beautifully to create a fantastical world. The pond is famous as an Instagrammable spot even during the day, with begonias and trees reflected on the water surface, creating a cool and beautiful scene. A special 5m tall tree made of approximately 300 pots of brightly colored flowers, combined with the illumination that lights up the entire tree, creates an overwhelming sight of reflections. You can feel the nation's best illumination production techniques here. This is an event that everyone should experience.

A light show is performed along with music. The mist comes out and creates a fantastic sight.

The light and music production has three pieces:

・Samba: Approximately 2 minutes, this is a performance that changes colors lightly according to samba-inspired music.

・Salsa: Approximately 2 minutes, the colors change rapidly to lively music inspired by salsa. (This is the most lively performance of the three songs)

・Hawaiian: For about 1 minute, the color changes according to Hawaiian-inspired music. (This is the most gentle production of the three songs)

We hope everyone will experience this wonderful event.

Colors also change vividly

The reflection on the water surface was very nice.

A COOL Begonia Garden campaign is currently underway where you can get discount tickets. All day long from July 22nd to September 18th, those who purchase admission tickets at the counter on the day of the event will receive a Begonia Garden discount ticket valid until September 18th. It is available for elementary school students and older for 500 yen (regular fees are: adults 1000 yen → 500 yen, elementary school students 700 yen → 500 yen, infants 200 yen).

Highlight ② “Milky Way” ~Japanese summer festival~

The central pond and chapel, which are the symbols of Nabananosato are visible from the standard composition, but the composition is decorated with the title ``A starry sky and a collaboration of Japanese umbrellas and bonfires dancing to festival music.'' The "Milky Way" is created in the image of twinkling stars in the night sky. The scale is one of the largest water illuminations in Japan.

As it is a competition of Japanese umbrellas, the colors change and the amount of light changes according to the music and surrounding illumination.

This year, as part of the bonfire competition, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of countless shining bonfires that change every moment, as well as the scenery that gives you a sense of the beauty of Japan with the use of colorful and bright Japanese umbrellas. The spectacular panoramic scenery and the combination of lights reflected on the water and the night sky are highlights.

The Japanese umbrella reflected on the water surface was beautiful.

Highlight ③ 200m long “Tunnel of Light” Hanakairo

Speaking of Nabananosato this is it. We're doing it in the summer too! It is a popular area that has been selected as one of the "world's most spectacular views" with a total length of about 200 meters. The tunnel of light is made with countless LED bulbs, and the petal-shaped LEDs create a soft glow. The scale of the event is overwhelming, and the great thing about it is that you can enjoy it not only in winter but also in summer.

The area around the entrance and exit of the tunnel of light is also beautiful!

Cute flower-shaped illumination

Highlight ④ “Bamboo Alley”

Bamboo alley (komichi) where you can feel the atmosphere of Japan. A fantastic world spread out in the evening darkness. The light from handmade bamboo lanterns lined up along the path by the pond flickered, giving the scene a Japanese feel. The atmosphere is exactly like a Japanese summer night.

The combination of quiet blue and Japanese bamboo light was also wonderful.

Highlight ⑤ New “Bamboo Hill”

A new ``Bamboo Hill'' with many bamboo lanterns lined up next to the Begonia Garden entrance has appeared. There are also bamboo lanterns on the alley by the pond in Nabananosato, but here I was able to enjoy a completely different atmosphere. You can feel the traditional beauty of Japan as the bamboo lanterns gently sparkle in the space.

Many bamboo lanterns were lined up.

The charm of ``Bamboo Hill'', which is surrounded by fantastic light and has a dream-like atmosphere, is not only good to admire from a distance, but also to take a leisurely look at the bamboo lanterns up close. It conveys the warmth of handmade craftsmanship and soothes the hearts of those who visit.

Highlight ⑥: Summer tradition “Japanese umbrellas by the water”

On a summer night, colorful Japanese umbrellas appeared, creating a magical scene. The unique Japanese beauty of Japanese umbrellas was fused with the scenery of summer illuminations, allowing visitors to enjoy the art of light.

The Japanese umbrella and the light at night look really nice.

Highlight ⑦ Millennium Garden “Forest of Light”

A 1,000-year-old olive tree is illuminated with colorful lights. The thick trunk, which curves intricately in all directions, and the taut branches create a unique silhouette. In addition to the illumination, you can also enjoy the experience of being above the clouds by creating artificial fog and clouds.

There are no lights during the day, but there is mist, making it a cool space.

It's foggy and has a magical atmosphere.

Highlight ⑧ “Twin Tree”

There are two symbolic trees in front of the chapel. The 20m tall Himalayan cedar shines crystal white and creates a gorgeous atmosphere. The elegant pastel blue tree is also a popular photo spot.

You can also see it from the back

Highlight ⑨ “Rainbow River”

The approximately 200m stream from Nabananosato 's Irimura Gate to Sato no Yu will shine as a colorful ``Rainbow River'' in a special design only available this summer. Fog gathers in the murmuring stream, and a variety of lights are reflected in it, shining in seven colors in a cool atmosphere, creating a beautiful scene that will take you to a dream world.

Only mist is generated during the day, creating a cool space.

Bridge leading to day trip hot spring “Sato no Yu”

Using the latest technology, we artificially generate fine water particles of approximately 10 to 20 microns, the same size as fog and clouds.

Highlight #10: “Tulip hill and summer starry sky”

Countless stars created in a tunnel shape shine brightly, creating a fantastic space. In front of it are brightly colored tulip illuminations that will make you feel as if you have wandered into an unreal world. The sparkling tulips will captivate your heart.

Lots of very bright tulips

Other attractions (other illuminations, Island Fuji, Sato no Yu)

other illuminations

There are also heart-shaped lights around the front gate and trees near the gate. If you come in during daylight hours and leave, you can feel a different atmosphere. There are also decorated trees at the flower market.

island fuji

As a way to view the illuminations, the night view from Island Fuji, a movable observation deck within the park, is also wonderful. While sitting on the observation deck bench, you will rise 45 meters into the air and rotate 360 degrees at the top. Since you can enjoy all the scenery slowly without having to move, children and the elderly can use it with peace of mind. Not only can you see the flowers spreading out below, but you can also see Nagashima Spaland to the south, Chubu Centrair International Airport, and central Nagoya to the east, as well as the magnificent mountains. Especially during the illumination period, the scenery is more beautiful than you can imagine.

Sato no Yu

In addition to soothing your mind with the night view, there is also a day-trip natural hot spring called Sato-no-Yu within the park, which will also soothe your body. You can enjoy the open-air bath, indoor bath, jacuzzi, cascading bath, cold bath, sauna, etc. according to your preference. Free amenities such as shampoo, conditioner, body shampoo, and face wash are also provided. Furthermore, we lend out towel sets (face towels, bath towels) free of charge, so you don't have to worry about coming empty-handed.

Nowadays, ordinary everyday scenes such as night views of factories, which were not established as tourist resources in the past, have become tourist resources.Although it is difficult to take good photos of nearby flower spots, shrines and temples, railways, and city scenes, Mie I would like to discover and disseminate the daily scenes of people in the prefecture as resources.
