What is Owase Port Festival?

The Owase Port Festival, which has been going on since 1950, is held on the first Saturday of August every year, and is a major summer event in Owase, now in its 70th year.

 

In 2024, the Owase Bushi Parade will be revived for the first time in 22 years, and the Owase Port Festival will be held in grand style.

 

There's plenty to see, including the Owase Itadaki Market, Owase Marche in Port Festival, stage events, and the Maritime Fireworks Display that will brighten up the finale of the festival!

 

A large number of people, young and old, from both inside and outside of OwaseCity visit the Owase Port area, and the venue is filled with energy.

① Maritime fireworks display

Approximately 3,000 fireworks are launched from the embankment of Owase Port, beautifully filling the night sky and painting the sea in a variety of colors.

Due to Owase's topography, which is surrounded by mountains, the sound of the fireworks exploding is said to be loud and reverberate throughout Owase.

 

The distance from Owase Fishing Port, the venue, to the embankment where the launch site is, is approximately 400 meters in a straight line, and the large fireworks that spread out in front of you are truly impressive!

 

In addition to the regular fireworks, the Owase Port Festival's fireworks display also includes memorial service fireworks to pray for the souls of the deceased, and celebratory fireworks that announce messages for birthdays, weddings, 60th birthdays, and other celebrations. Masu.

 

Watching fireworks while thinking about the feelings of various people will be a special experience.

②Owase Festival Parade

As part of the 70th anniversary of the city's incorporation, the Owase-bushi parade will be revived for the first time in 22 years! On the day, starting at 4:00 p.m., about 1,000 people will participate and parade down about 200 meters of Kibou Street.

④Japan Coast Guard patrol ship “Suzuka” open to the public

With the cooperation of the Owase Coast Guard, the Japan Coast Guard's patrol boat ``Suzuka'', which is normally not available for viewing, will be open to the public.

With a total length of 89m and a total weight of 1,300 tons, the size and power of this patrol boat is truly impressive! Please take this opportunity to take a look.

 

Not only can you tour the ship, but you can also take pictures with Umimaru-kun, the mascot character of the Japan Coast Guard, and the captain of the day.

Will there be stalls etc.?

In addition to the food stalls unique to the festival, a market event called "Owase Marche in Owase Port Festival" will be held.
The lineup is planned to add new appeal to the Owase Port Festival, including Sanma sushi, a local sushi that represents Mie, special hamburgers, octopus and cheese sticks, alcohol and snacks, baked xiaolongbao (baked dumplings), and handmade fried dumplings.
