What is Shima Kanko Hotel?

This time, we chose for our couple tripMie Prefecturewise on the islandShima Kanko Hotel.

Since its opening in 1951 (Showa 26), this hotel is one of the most prestigious in Mie Prefecture and has hosted many guests, including members of the imperial family and celebrities.

``The Classic'' is a hotel that became the main venue for the memorable 2016 G7 IseShimaSummit and attracted attention from all over the world. This historic hotel is suitable for welcoming visitors not only from Japan but also from overseas, with ``The Club,'' a restored building from when it first opened, and ``The Bay Suite,'' which is an all-suite room.

As you pass through Kintetsu Kashijima Station and climb the slope, you will see a spacious grounds and a resort-like atmosphere.　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　

Located in a beautiful natural setting of Ago Bay, the hotel has a luxurious atmosphere.I checked in, suppressing my heartbeat and my pounding heart.

As if they cared about us, they warmly welcomed us with reassuring smiles.

This time we would like to introduce you to ``Shima Kanko Hotel The Classic'' where we stayed.

The Classic

I chose a premium twin room.A warm and relaxing space with white walls and wood as the main theme.

With a beautiful view of Ago Bay, you can escape from your busy daily life and enjoy a blissful time.

When I opened the stay booklet I received at check-in, I saw the words "Welcome to Shima Time." You can look forward to the many hospitality and services you will receive during your stay, including the lounge.

Stroll through the gardens connecting the three Shima Kanko Hotels. A vast site of approximately 2000 tsubo. Feel the scent of flowers all over your body and say goodbye to your daily routine for a while.

Feel the sea breeze of Ise-Shima on your cheeks, and hear the occasional song of wild birds. Time passes slowly.

Another appeal of this hotel is that you can go back and forth between the guest lounges in the two accommodation buildings, ``The Classic'' and ``The Bay Suite,'' during your stay. Guests can access the lounge with their key card.

The Club

``The Club'' retains the appearance of when it first opened, with a light wall designed with the motif of the traditional Japanese pattern ``Tatewaku'' and the waves and winds of the Ise-Shima sea. It uses washi paper from Kyoto and Echizen, and is designed to spread happiness and hope from Ise-Shima to all over the world.

The Bay Suite

I also visited “The Bay Suite”.

There is a beautiful panoramic view from the top floor garden. The evening sky gradually turns from blue to orange, painting The Classic beautifully.

The sunset view of Ago Bay has been selected as one of Japan's top 100 sunsets. ``Thank you so much for everything.'' You can naturally say words that you would normally not be able to say.

We will spend the time until dinner in the lounge on the top floor. The calm, adult space is comfortable.

French restaurant "La Mer"

Among the five restaurants in the hotel, we chose the French restaurant ``La Mer'' for dinner.

The Bay Suite 5One Michelin star French restaurant located on the second floor.This time, we will have the course ``Elegance'' where you can enjoy ``seafood French cuisine'' to your heart's content.

When you open the menu, you'll see a message from Executive Chef Hiroe Higuchi, who says, ``May all the feelings connected with gratitude for the blessings of nature reach you on your plate.''

A gastronomy restaurant suitable for an anniversary trip with my wife. This is one of the few famous restaurants in the prefecture that has received one Michelin star and has been selected as one of the top 100 French restaurants.

Gibier pâté en croute

A dish called the king of patties, which combines buttery puff pastry with the texture of deer phallus and nuts.The consommé jelly has a smooth flavor while the dough is well baked.

Lobster cream soup

Pour the soup over a plate of Royale made from consomme hardened with eggs and Ise lobster meat. The aroma that spreads with the steam is very rich, and you can enjoy the flavor and umami of the spiny lobster.

Grilled Spanish Mackerel with Citrus and Shungiku Sauce

The aromatic grilled mackerel and citrus sauce are exquisite.``We want to convey the local ingredients, the culture of Ise-Shima, and the thoughts of the producers.''A number of dishes filled with the chef's passion.

Sauteed spiny lobster Normande sauce

The rich aroma of the sauce and the flavor of the spiny lobster fill your nose from the moment you eat it. It is a gourmet experience that focuses on the rich ingredients of local Mie, and offers a glimpse of new challenges that suit the times while carefully preserving tradition.

Enjoy French gastronomy. A smile full of happiness.

Kuroge Wagyu beef fillet with Japanese pepper aroma

Chef Higuchi personally visits producers and actively uses local ingredients.A variety of dishes filled with thoughtso that guests can enjoy the flavors and colors of each season.

Vanilla ice cream and pear dessert.

Pear compote with the sweetness of vanilla and cinnamon creates a mature taste.

A variety of hospitality and special dishes suitable for special days. It was a time and space filled with happiness.

A relaxing drink. I don't remember what we talked about, but we both laughed a lot.

The next morning was also a pleasant blue sky. Transfers between hotels are always available.

Breakfast is served at Japanese restaurant Hama Momen on the 4th floor of The Bay Suite.

This is also a sophisticated store.

A large selection of colorful small bowls, grilled fish, Yonezawa glutinous barley, sea nanakusa porridge, and other rice porridge to choose from. A Japanese cuisine set menu where you can enjoy Mie's rich ingredients.

After breakfast, take a walk in the garden.

Basking in the pleasant morning sun, head to Kompiragu Shrine, where the guardian deity of the sea is enshrined. It has been located here since 1930 (Showa 5), before the hotel opened, and the annual autumn festival is held every October.

Kintetsu Kashijima Country Club

After leaving the hotel, we enjoyed playing golf at the Kintetsu Kashijima Country Club. You'll be in a good mood as this is the only stage in Japan where an official USLPGA game was held.

There are also plans that include lodging at Shima Kanko Hotel and golf, so making reservations is easy.

We have held women's professional golf tournaments for 10 years in a row, including the official games of the U.S. Women's Professional Golf Association, Mizuno Classic - Ise-Shima (2006-2014) and TOTO Japan Classic (2015), which every golf fan should try at least once. It is known as a coveted golf course.

The course is a majestic resort course with beautiful blues and greens, every corner of which is well-maintained, and was designed by skillfully incorporating the ria coastline into the scenic area of Ise-Shima National Park, surrounded by the beautiful sea and greenery of Yokoyama.

Play in Kashiwajima's mild climate and pleasant sea breeze. 2 thumb 2 caddies are also available.

Feeling good, we high-fived each other.

Hydrate between rounds. Ise Shima cider unique to the local area. The sweet and sour citrus fruit and slight carbonation add to the refreshing feeling.

A large public bath is also available. I feel great as I wash off all my sweat.

How was it?

This time, I enjoyed "Shima Kanko Hotel" and "Kintetsu Kashijima Country Club" with my wife. Although the two of them are usually busy with childcare and work, this leisurely and luxurious time was a reward for themselves and a gift of gratitude to their wife.
