Akatsuka Hydrangea Garden: Enjoy around 100 varieties of hydrangea
Akatsuka Hydrangea Garden, which will celebrate its sixth anniversary in 2024, is a cultivation test farm in Takanoo-TsuCity takanocho, which was developed using the production farm of Akatsuka Botanical Garden Co., Ltd., and where you can enjoy approximately 1,000 hydrangeas of about 100 varieties, including the rare Pink Annabelle.
The garden is designed to resemble a garden, and many colorful hydrangeas will be blooming beautifully, to serve as a reference forhow to display hydrangeas and how to create a garden at home.
Additionally, at the back of the Hydrangea Garden, there is a spacious forest garden (Akatsuka Rhododendron Garden), where you can stroll around admiring the hydrangeas and mountain hydrangeas planted among the trees.
When is Akatsuka Hydrangea Garden open and when is the best time to see it?
The opening period for 2024 will be from Saturday, June 1st until the end of the month, with the best viewing time expected to be around June 10th, as usual.
Also, if you visit Suzuka Forest Garden between February and March, you can get a 10% discount on the admission fee to the Hydrangea Garden by using the "Kurutto Pass" that was distributed when you entered the garden.
*The opening period may change depending on the flowering situation, so please check the Akatsuka Hydrangea Garden | Official Website | before visiting.
What varieties do you recommend and what are the highlights?
Among the approximately 100 colorful varieties of hydrangeas, here are some that we particularly recommend:
·dance party
This double-flowered hydrangea comes in a variety of colors, including pink and blue, depending on the soil's pH.
・Blessing of Kirishima
This is a Temari Hydrangea that blooms all year round. It turns pink or blue depending on the soil's pH level, and the flowers last a long time and bloom beautifully.
Lagrangian
This is a new variety that produces flowers on all of its side buds, and produces six times as many flowers as regular hydrangeas! The flower color changes from white to pink, so don't miss it!
・Kurenai
This popular mountain hydrangea is white when it first blooms, and the sepals turn red when exposed to sunlight. The color changes depending on whether it is in the sun or the shade, so be sure to try looking for it.
・Pink Annabelle (pictured above)
They start out deep pink and turn pale pink as they bloom. They are tall enough that even small children can easily see them.
This year, the area for the rare Pink Annabelle has been expanded, so it's a must-see!
Although watering is done automatically, the soil's pH level can be changed manually to enjoy different colors for the same variety of plants.
You can also take a stroll through Akatsuka Rhododendron Garden!
It is attached Akatsuka Rhododendron Garden for, Forest-inspired Planted in the garden Mountain hydrangea You can enjoy it mainly at
There are also crimson flowers in bloom, whose color changes depending on how much sunlight they receive. At the time of our visit (May 29th), we were able to enjoy both the beautiful white of the crimson flowers blooming in the shade, and the crimson-tinted petals of the crimson flowers blooming in the sun.
*Rhododendrons will not be in bloom during the Hydrangea Garden's opening hours.
Creating an Earth-Friendly Environment
By laying wood chips made from the many branches pruned within the garden, it is possible to prevent the surface of the soil from drying out and weeds from growing, and it also makes it easier to regulate the temperature in the summer, thereby contributing to the creation of an environmentally friendly environment.
In addition, the walkways are not sloped, so wheelchair users and small children can stroll around safely.
You can buy hydrangeas ♪
You can purchase colorful hydrangeas and seasonal flowers at the shop near the exit.
We also have the rare Pink Annabelle for sale, so please check it out!
You can also learn how to grow and prune hydrangeas at the shop.
The shop also has a photo spot and a rest area, and starting this year, you can enjoy a hydrangea Hanachozu!
*Eating is not permitted in the rest area, but you may drink fluids to prevent heatstroke.

Kazahaya Village 2024 Hydrangea Festival
In 2004, for the first time in Japan "Horticultural Welfare" The garden was created in Hisai, TsuCity, incorporating the Kazahaya Village So, 77,700 hydrangeas of 45 varieties are planted on 33,000㎡ of land. It decorates the vast hilly region of
The facility also features Hanachozu, Hananooka Shrine, a dog run, a golf driving range, a short course, a teahouse and a foot bath, making it a flower garden that can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
2024 Hydrangea Festival: When is it, when is the best time to see it, and what are the highlights?
The 2024 Hydrangea Festival will be held from June 1st (Sat) to July 15th (Mon), with the best viewing time expected to be around June 15th (Sat).
The hydrangea flowerbed, designed with 37 varieties including "Selma" and "Sharona" that can only be seen here, as well as "Aotemari," "Sumida no Hanabi," and "Annabelle," will begin to bloom in early June.
The hills covered in pure white Annabelle cherries are also a must-see!
In addition, the garden has been praised as the most beautiful hydrangea garden in Japan, and has even been featured on TV! The number of visitors is increasing every year.
Must see! The very popular Hanachozu
Hanachozu Purifier Artist The flower water basin created by Kyoko TsujiHanachozu so popular that people line up to take photos!
The creation of Hanachozu begins early every Friday morning and is expected to be completed around 10am.
They plan to make corrections but keep the design the same from next week.
*The design is thought up in advance and Hanachozu is created over several hours in the morning. Please be careful that small children or dogs do not climb over the rope and destroy Hanachozu. Please enjoy looking at it without touching it.
A sight you can only see at Kazahaya Village! Large-scale sprinklers and hoses spraying water
The garden's sprinklers run all day long to keep the hydrangeas' colors beautiful for as long as possible.
The areas where many visitors pass by are turned off in the morning, but the sprinklers are turned on not only on sunny or cloudy days, but also on rainy days with little rain, to provide the hydrangeas with plenty of water.
In addition to sprinklers, watering is done by hand with hoses! It takes as long as three days to water the entire area. Some staff members water the area almost every day, except on rainy days, in the heat of the day.
Also, if you're lucky and the sun is shining, you might be able to see a rainbow created by the sprinklers and water hoses.
This year, unlike previous years, the water coming out of the sprinklers will be in a mist form, allowing them to water the plants more gently than before.
This photo was taken last year when the water droplets from the sprinklers were quite large, but this year it looks like we'll be able to take a photo of the hydrangeas bathed in a gentle mist.
*If you are taking photos of water splashes and hydrangeas, please be careful not to slip on the wet ground.
Even with a telephoto lens, there are many places where you will be splashed with water when taking pictures, so please be careful and use an umbrella to protect your camera and bag from getting wet. We also recommend wearing clothes that dry quickly and boots that can get wet.
Measures against animal damage taken through a long process of trial and error
Since 2004, Kazahaya no Sato has been planting hydrangeas across a vast area of land to create a colorful flower garden. In 2010, the spectacular flower scenery finally took on a short life, as in 2011 many of the hydrangea buds were eaten by deer, causing some varieties to wither and die.
Trial and error continued to be used to find ways to deal with the deer, but by installing a large net around the perimeter of the garden, the damage was finally contained and the spectacular flower scenery was once again restored.
The flower scenery, which continues to evolve every year, is only possible thanks to the efforts of facility users who pull weeds and staff.
Every year, many people take photos surrounded by hydrangeas, but please be careful not to step on the base of these carefully grown hydrangeas or break their branches.
Want to catch the sunset? Check out these popular spots!
The pond at Kazahaya no Sato is a popular spot for taking photos of the sunset reflecting off the surrounding hydrangeas!
Last year, when I visited to capture the sunset, everyone shared the spot and we were able to take pictures very comfortably.
May and June are the seasons when the evening sky is prone to burning, so three years ago and last year, we were able to see the "burning fire" at the right time...! If you're lucky, you may have a chance to enjoy the burning fire and hydrangeas this year as well♪
*Because it is a popular spot, some photographers start setting up tripods to reserve spots in the early afternoon, but please be considerate of other visitors and be considerate to others when taking photos. We hope everyone there can enjoy the spectacular view.

Iris and hydrangea at Kameyama Iris Garden
Kameyama Iris Garden is located in Kameyama Park, which covers an area of 13.4 hectares. You can enjoy the irises, the flower of KameyamaCity, and the beautiful hydrangeas that bloom along the paths.
Approximately 12,000 irises of 100 varieties are planted in the 4,000㎡ garden, making it one of the largest iris gardens in the prefecture.
In addition, the Iris Festival is held every year in early June, attracting many visitors.
When is the best time to see irises in 2024 and what are the highlights?
The irises are planted in six areas, arranged in a stepped pattern descending from the garden's parking lot.
To prevent problems with successive crops, the plants are replanted in two tiers every three years. The third-year plants are said to produce more robust flowers, so the best time to see the irises is expected to be from early to mid-June.
Iris plants bloom twice on one plant, so they are carefully picked off after the first flower has finished so that the second flower will bloom beautifully.
Also, by planting them in rows according to variety, when in full bloom a line of colorful flowers will form, creating a beautiful collaboration with the surrounding hydrangeas.
When is the best time to see hydrangeas in 2024 and what should you see?
Blue and pink hydrangeas bloom in full glory along the parking lot and the paths within the park, making the park very colorful.
time to see the flowers is expected to be in mid-June, so you can enjoy them throughout the month. The best
Although they are pruned every year, they do not require any other special care, so some of the hydrangeas are tall and large! You can enjoy the natural appearance of the hydrangeas.
In 2024, the irises are expected to bloom more slowly, so you may be able to enjoy the coloring of the hydrangeas and the best viewing of the irises at the same time.
For detailed flowering information, please check KameyamaCity City Park.
You might even encounter some small creatures!
There are lots of small creatures in the park.
There are tadpoles, tadpoles and frogs in the waterways, and sometimes snails, lizards and grasshoppers can be seen on the hydrangeas!
My son also enjoys observing them enthusiastically every year.
The photo was taken a few years ago of a Japanese lizard taking a rest on a hydrangea. If you're lucky, you might encounter one.
About parking lot
The parking lot at the iris garden is often full on weekends, so please use the temporary parking lot nearby.

Kameyama Park Wanpaku Square, which was renovated this year
Kameyama Park, which opened in 1956 as a place for citizens to relax, will be reopening on March 29, 2024!
The existing playground equipment, which had deteriorated over time, has been replaced with inclusive playground equipment, transforming the park into one that can be enjoyed by children of all ages.
What is inclusive play equipment?
In recent years, inclusive play equipment has been increasing in the prefecture.
Inclusiveness in parks also means not leaving anyone out and everyone being together, and the aim is to allow a variety of people to enjoy activities that suit them.
Children's playground equipment "Wanpaku Kameyama Castle Combination"
The children's playground, Wanpaku Kameyama Castle Combination, is a playground that can be enjoyed by children of all ages, with colorful tube slides, a bridge decorated with irises, KameyamaCity 's beloved flower, and an inclined bouldering wall.
There are ninjas scattered around, so try and find them!
My son's favorite is bouldering! He kept climbing, running, and climbing again... over and over again◎
Inclusive Combi, a playground equipment for children
Inclusive Combiis a complex playground for small children that has a variety of features!
There are parts that make sounds like drums, and parts that play the musical scale of Do-Re-Mi-Fa-So-La-Si, so it's a toy that you can enjoy with your ears too♪
The lower slide has a gentle slope, so even small children can play safely.
Sukusuku Land, a playground for infants and toddlers
Sukusuku Landis a play space for infants and toddlers where children from 0 to 3 years old can learn movements appropriate to their developmental stage through play.
The ground is designed to prevent injury even if you fall, and the area is surrounded by a fence, so even small children can play safely.
The largest roller slider in Mie Prefecture! Sky Slide
Roller Slide The Sky Slide boasts a total length of 71.9 meters, making it one of the longest in Mie Prefecture!
The rollers rotate at a gentle speed, making it easy for even small children to try.
My son seemed to like it so much that he ran back up the stairs the moment he slid down, and used it many times.
The slide is high enough that you can enjoy a refreshing view of the park while sliding down it.
*Please keep a safe distance between you and other children to avoid bumping into them while on the slide.
Other play equipment
In addition to the complex play equipment, new equipment has been installed such as a triple swing, Tarzan rope, and rotating play equipment that even small children can play on safely.
In order to reflect the needs of users, the city conducted a preliminary survey and an inclusive discussion meeting, and used an image diagram to conduct a questionnaire survey of second and fifth graders in the city to select the playground equipment. The result is a selection of playground equipment that will make children want to play at Kameyama Park!

Kazahaya no Sato, a flower garden that combines welfare and the environment ~Kappa no Furusato~
Chunan group
TsuCityKazahaya no Sato - Kappa no Furusato - is 90 minutes from Chubu Centrair International Airport and 5 minutes from Hisai IC on the Ise Expressway. It is 32 minutes to VISON, one of Japan's largest commercial resorts, on the Ise Expressway, 25 minutes to Senshu-ji Temple, designated as a national treasure in 2017, 70 minutes to IseJingu on National Route 23, and 41 minutes to the World Heritage Site Kumano Kodo Onna-toge Togeguchi on the Ise Expressway. It is an ideal place to stop by or take a lunch break on your way to or from Ise-Shima sightseeing. Kazahaya no Sato is located on the shores of Kazahaya Pond, which has a circumference of 3.8 km, in the Ise Onsen Golf Club, a hilly area of about 78,000 m2. Kazahaya Pond is one of 800 irrigation ponds created nationwide by Emperor Suinin in October of the winter of the 35th year of the thirteen ... During the Sengoku period, the land where the feudal lord of Tsujo, TakatoraTodo, worked on irrigation construction was named Kazehaya Pond, and it is still one of the prefecture's major water sources for fields. ''Since 2004, the users and staff of the social welfare organization Seijukai's facility for the disabled have been working together to grow plum trees, wisteria, and hydrangeas. As the first flower garden in Japan to incorporate horticultural welfare, it is working to integrate the environment and welfare.
