I went to the popular sweets shop ``1010banchi'', which is about a 10-minute walk from Matsusaka Station. 1010banchi's most famous menu is the crispy mille-feuille! The unique mille-feuille, which has a best-before date of less than 1 hour, is popular.
I went to 1010banchi, a popular sweets shop in MatsusakaCity, about a 10-minute walk from JR/Kintetsu Matsusaka Station.
To get there, just walk straight from the JR side of Matsusaka Station and you'll see the store's signboard, so you'll have no trouble getting there. There is also a free parking lot, so you can come by car.
The inside of the store uses a lot of wood and has a warm atmosphere. The white space in the center of the screen is an open kitchen.
First of all, 1010banchi's most famous menu is the crispy mille-feuille! There's a reason why mille-feuille has a unique expiry date of less than 1 hour.
The mille-feuille is not lined up in the showcase, but the pastry chef begins making it carefully after ordering.
At 1010 banchi, we are very particular about the dough for our mille-feuille, and you will be surprised at how crispy it is!
Just by putting a little bit of my fork into it, it felt like it would fall apart, and when I put it in my mouth, I was surprised by the texture, which I had never had before.
The mille-feuille is based on an authentic Lenôtre recipe, with lots of egg yolks for extra crispiness and fermented butter for a fragrant pie.
The fitage (folded pie), which is carefully folded over one day and the next day for 6 hours, is truly exquisite! If you come to Matsusaka, this is a must-try dish.
The reason why the expiration date is within one hour is because over time, the crispy texture of the dough will be lost and you will no longer be able to enjoy the original taste.
If possible, we recommend eating in the restaurant's cafe space.
If ordering take-out, the condition is that it must be consumed within 1 hour.
By the way, I use seasonal fruits for the dough.
When I visited the store, it was winter, so I had a choice of strawberries and bananas. In the summer, you can also choose blueberries.
1010 banchi has lots of sweets that can be used as souvenirs!
There is only one store in Matsusaka, and there are products related to Matsusaka.
One of the most popular products is Matsuzaka Rinka, a sweet named after Norinaga Motoori, a great Japanese scholar from MotooriNorinaga.
Matsusaka Suzuka looks like a Japanese sweet at first glance, but it is actually a baked confectionery made with almonds and hazelnuts, and has fresh caramel inside.
It has salted cherry blossoms on top and looks elegant.
The combination of the crunchy dough and the soft texture of caramel makes it a flavor that everyone will love.
Not only is it sweet, but the salty taste of the cherry blossoms is a nice accent.
Why cherry blossoms? It is said that MotooriNorinaga used it because he loved wild cherry blossoms.
``Shiramejo Monogatari'' is a butter castella made with rice flour from Hatase in MatsusakaCity, a sweet that is associated with the local area.
The use of rice flour gives it a slightly chewy texture.
By the way, Shirome Castle refers to Asaka Castle, a mountain castle owned by the Kitabatake clan in MatsusakaCity.
This is Takeshiro Balm, a sweet named after MatsuuraTakeshiro, a great man from MatsusakaCity who is known as the godfather of Hokkaido.
This Baumkuchen is a collaboration with Dolce Vita in Sapporo, and is made with carefully selected ingredients from Hokkaido.
There are many other baked goods in the lineup, and when you see them, you'll want them all.
The illustrations for this cute baked goods lineup were apparently drawn by the shop staff.
My favorite baked goods are scones, and the plain ones are made with plenty of butter and fresh cream, and have a sweet aroma when warmed.
I think you could also add strawberry jam or something like that.
We also recommend this ``Lean'' made with Belgian couverture chocolate.
Although it is a fresh confectionery, it can be carried around at room temperature. You can enjoy a crispy texture by storing it in the refrigerator before eating.
Introducing the store's cafe space. In the cafe space, you can enjoy the mille-feuille and cakes that I introduced earlier.
One of the most popular cakes is the ``fruit tree.'' There are lots of fruits scattered inside the sponge, and it looks delicious just by looking at it!
The classic Mont Blanc is also a popular cake.
The limited brunch set that can only be ordered from 11am to 2pm is also very popular!
The brunch set, which is limited to 12 meals a day and comes in three tiers, looks stylish.
*The photo is for 2 people.
*Includes 3-tier set + your favorite cake + drink
When ordering coffee etc. at the cafe space, you can choose the cup of your choice! There are many kinds, so please compare them.
The locally famous 1010 banchi has over 40 types of birthday cakes.
From cakes filled with fresh cream to those filled with fruit, and even those decorated with characters. I'm sure you'll be happy when you receive it.
The shop has an open kitchen where you can see the cooking area, and when I visited, the pastry chef was making a birthday cake. You can't help but admire the detailed work. A table was also set up for children to watch.
The owner and chef of 1010 banchi, Naoya Koizumi, is a skilled and creative person who creates new cakes and sweets every time I visit the shop. I also give practical lectures as a part-time lecturer at local high schools and vocational schools.
You can walk to 1010 Banchi from Matsusaka's famous tourist spots, Matsusaka Castle GojobanYashiki. You can take a break after walking around wearing Matsusaka Momen, so why not join us? Be sure to visit 1010 banchi, where you can buy menu items that can only be eaten here and sweets unique to Matsusaka.
