I went to Shingyotei, a long-established eel restaurant in TsuCity! This is a store with a history dating back to 1890. It is known as a popular restaurant in TsuCity, which used to have the highest consumption of eel in Japan. Even though I visited at noon on a weekday, the parking lot was almost full! Customers came in without interruption. It's a popular restaurant with many repeat customers from locals.

I went to Shingyotei, a long-established eel restaurant in TsuCity! This is a store with a history dating back to 1890. It is known as a popular restaurant in TsuCity, which used to have the highest consumption of eel in Japan.

The location is about 10 minutes on foot from Kintetsu Tsushinmachi, and about 5 minutes by car from Tsu Interchange. It is located right near Ojosai Park in TsuCity and TsuCity.

The store is located in a building that is hard to find in other areas. Usually, it is located within a tenant building, but many people are surprised to find an eel restaurant in just one building.

This is the entrance to the store. Even though I visited at noon on a weekday, the parking lot was almost full! Customers came in without interruption. It's a popular restaurant with many repeat customers from locals.

This time, we had the cooperation of three 2016 Tsu Queens. Click here for Tsu Queen https://www.facebook.com/%E6%B4%A5%E3%82%AF%E3%82%A4%E3%83%BC%E3%83%B3-1450700938495116/

It was busy during lunchtime, but I was able to go into the kitchen and take some photos! As shown in the photo, the cut eel is grilled over charcoal. This eel was kept in natural well water to keep it healthy so that it would not become stressed and lose its flavor.

It is thoroughly grilled over red charcoal to make the skin crispy. The fan that fans the fan is aged and shows the skill of the craftsman.

It is then thoroughly seasoned with a traditional sauce made by boiling down soy sauce, mirin, rock sugar, etc. and letting it sit for over a week. The kitchen is filled with the delicious aroma of eel and sauce, and I'm definitely hungry...

After applying the sauce, it is placed over the charcoal grill again to make it even more fragrant.

The store staff were really busy working as it was lunch time. It's amazing how quickly they work! I thought. The logo on the T-shirt is cool.

And this is the finished eel bowl. The price is 2,750 yen (tax included), which includes 4 slices of eel and liver soup. Isn't it a pretty good deal compared to other areas?

In addition, the eel noodles are even more affordable at 1,540 yen (tax included). You can see why it's loved and popular by locals.

Tsu Queen came to take pictures for "Umap - A thorough guide map for eels in Tsu" published by TsuCity Tourism Association. All three are TsuCity who have loved eel for a long time.

In addition to Shingyutei, Umap also lists other recommended eel restaurants in TsuCity. This is a must-have book when you come to TsuCity. You can also view it on TsuCity Tourism Association homepage.

By the way...when you think of Shingyutei, you can't miss the rice bowl! This is the amount for just rice.

This is an actual medium bowl with a medium portion of rice. There's quite a bit of it, so if you're confident in your stomach, give it a try! The rice will also be covered with sauce, so it will be delicious. I'm a picky eater so I didn't order anything, but I thought I'd give it a try...

What surprised me at the store was the ``self-checkout'' system, which I had never seen before at an eel restaurant! Since the checkout counter is crowded at lunchtime, the counter was set up so that customers could finish their checkout as quickly as possible. Wouldn't it be nice to try this out once?

Among the many eel restaurants in TsuCity, Shingyatei is one of the most popular, so if you come to the eel town of Tsu, please try it!
