We covered the 2017 Ujisato Festival, so we will introduce you to the many highlights in detail!
In MatsusakaCity, the ``Ujisato Festival'' is held every year on November 3rd (Culture Day) to remember Matsusaka's military commander, Lord Gamo Ujisato.
I covered the “Ujisato Festival” on November 3, 2017!
We'll introduce you to a lot of highlights, including a brave parade of approximately 300 warriors, an impressive demonstration by the gun corps, and the gorgeous Matsusaka Shongai Ondo and dance!
If you go by car, there are many parking lots around the station, which is convenient.
However, it gets crowded even before the festival starts, so we recommend arriving early.
This year is the 56th time, and you can feel the long history of the festival. When the festival started, there were no PCs or smartphones that could be used to browse web pages in this way. It's kind of emotional.
It not only provides information on traffic regulations such as areas closed to vehicles and one-way streets, but also the locations of temporary toilets, which is convenient.
This is a must-have!
The first highlight is the ceremony held in front of the monument and the marching ceremony.
The brightly colored costumes look great against the incredibly crisp autumn sky.
As a side note, did you know that November 3rd is said to be a unique sunny day? It seems that there is a high probability that it will be a sunny day, so it cannot be said to be a coincidence. It's a perfect day for a festival!
The young people's straight backs, taut bows, and serious eyes. It's brave!
The parade of the warrior corps, consisting of Lord Ujisato and Fuyuhime, pages, gun corps, gun corps, spear corps, spear corps, maids, boys and girls warrior corps, and 14 groups of handmade armor corps, begins!
In fact, the participants in this samurai procession are decided through a public recruitment process. You can also apply for the main cast roles of Ujisato Gamo and Fuyuhime! Musha-tai members can also apply, with conditions such as being able to participate on the day and being able to walk a course of several kilometers. By participating in the procession, you can enjoy a different kind of fun than just watching the show!
The sound of shutters echoes throughout the area.
At GojobanYashiki a passing course for the warrior procession. It is a highly recommended photogenic spot with beautiful cobblestone pavement.
Fuyuhime is the daughter of Oda Nobunaga and the legal wife of Lord Ujisato. It is said that they were a close couple. Apparently, this year, a real married couple is participating. It looks like it will be a wonderful memory!
If you look closely, you can see the end of the rope being lit on fire and smoke. However, when the gun fires, it makes a frighteningly loud sound, so I recommend covering your ears. Some people were watching with earplugs in.
A dry sound echoes and my head starts to feel sharp. Very impressive! !
Immediately after the shot was fired, people around the area shouted, "Oh!" in excitement.
``Shongai'' means ``I can't help it,'' and it is said that this dance was first performed by farmers and villagers who were forced to do hard labor when Matsuzaka Castle was built. People wearing bright blue kimono dance around the intersection.
As I walk through the streets of Matsusaka, imagining what kind of people Ujisato and Fuyuhime were, I get excited thinking about the distant past.
However, perhaps it is the people living today who make the festival more exciting and captivate the hearts of those who watch it than the history and legends. No matter where you looked, there were picturesque warrior parades, various elaborate stages, and no matter where you walked, it was filled with smiling faces who looked like they were having fun.
The 56th Ujisato Festival is a photogenic historical festival that will make you fall in love with Matsusaka even more!
