I went to Kii Kii-NagashimaManbo Michi-no-eki! Detailed information on popular souvenirs, gourmet food, and surrounding information!

We have all kinds of souvenirs from KihokuTown! There are plenty of specialties such as the “town fish” sunfish and fresh seafood from nagashima! You can enjoy delicious fish gourmet food, or take a refreshing walk around the lawn and pond.

"Michi-no-eki Kii-NagashimaManbo" is located at the entrance to KihokuTown, facing National Route 42. The building's exterior is a series of large green triangular roofs that are reminiscent of the shape of the Owase Hinoki tree, a local specialty. There are large phoenix trees planted around it, giving it a somewhat tropical feel.

Let's go inside right away.
When you think of a product corner at Michi-no-eki, you tend to think of vegetables being sold, but here there are overwhelmingly more seafood and processed products!

As expected, it is Michi-no-eki in KihokuTown that boasts one of the highest catches in the prefecture.

Of particular note is the ``sunfish'' product, which is also the name of the station.
Sunfish is KihokuTown 's "town fish." Sunfish may be seen in aquariums, but in KihokuTown, they have a long history of being eaten as food.
It originated from fishermen who boiled it and ate it with miso dressing or vinegared miso, and it is still a popular way to eat it today.

The store has a lot of sunfish products, including frozen "white sunfish" for 930 yen, "deep-fried sunfish" for 1,000 yen, "grilled sunfish with stamina" for 600 yen, and "dried sunfish with mirin" for 350 yen!

Sunfish are really eaten on a daily basis.

There are a wide variety of processed sunfish products, including the luxurious ``Tansha Fish Curry'' for 800 yen, and ``Sunfish Arare'' containing sunfish for 500 yen. These are products developed by KihokuTown.

"Sunfish" is written in kanji as "transverse fish." I wonder what it tastes like...I'm very interested!

Of course, in addition to sunfish, there are plenty of other seafood that can be caught from the Kumano Sea! Among the rows of dried fish, there are some that may surprise you, such as the ``moray eel'' (1,100 yen).

Dried fish are especially popular in the produce corner, and most people who stop by pick them up.

There were also nigiri sushi that you could buy and eat right away, as well as HigashiKishu 's famous ``sanma sushi'' and `` Mehari-sushi''!
Approximately 80% of the items lined up in the store are from KihokuTown, with the rest coming from nearby areas such as TaikiTown and HigashiKishu.

After looking around the store for a while, I noticed a new item in the fresh fish section!

The person displaying the products is a local fishmonger named Kaito. On days other than Tuesdays and Saturdays when the market is closed, fresh seafood is brought to you from around 10:30 a.m.

Today we have a basket full of ``gangara'' and ``kame no te'' caught at Kii nagashima Port! Both are shellfish that are not very common. ``Gangara'' looks like a smaller turban shell, and has no bitterness and is delicious even down to the tail.
``Kame-no-te'' looks like a real turtle's paw, which may give you a bit of a shock (lol), but it's said to be good for the liver and the perfect accompaniment to alcohol.

By the way, Mr. Hashikura, the ``kaito'' who always comes to visit us, was a very friendly and kind person!
If you don't know how to eat something, just ask and they will kindly teach you. On this day as well, he gave us an easy-to-understand explanation of how to boil shellfish.
If you happen to come across one, please give us a shout! In this way, the appeal of sunfish is that you can get freshly caught fish from nagashima Island and get to interact with local people.

It's also nice that they provide ice for you to take home.

In addition, at the stall next to the fresh fish corner, on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, Yoshino Sushi, a popular sushi restaurant in nagashima, holds demonstration sales of Sanma sushi.
It seems that it is popular because you can buy it freshly made.

I was getting hungry, so I went to the restaurant.
``Restaurant Sunbou'' offers a variety of menus including set meals and noodles, including the popular ``Seafood Moriagodon'' (880 yen) and ``Sashimi Set Meal'' (1,000 yen) topped with fresh sashimi from Kii nagashima. .

But after all, if you come here, try the sunfish! So, I ordered the "Fried Sunfish Set Meal" for 880 yen.
It's time to taste sunfish for the first time!

The meat is white and has a firm texture, similar to chicken. It's fried, so there's a lot of volume, but the sunfish itself is light, so you can eat it easily.
There is also terrace seating leading to the lawn, so we recommend eating on the terrace when the weather is nice.

On Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, a stall outside Michi-no-eki sells ``grilled sunfish skewers'' for 400 yen each.

``Mambo'' is Michi-no-eki is often used by riders who enjoy touring. Thanks to word of mouth from riders who stopped by, the word of mouth gradually spread, and it became so popular that the highest sales record in one day was 1,000 bottles!
I also like how easy it is to eat with one hand.

By the way, the handmade bread baked in the store every day is also a hidden hit!

The orthodox breads such as melon bread and hot dogs looked delicious, but there were also some items that caught my attention, such as the 230 yen ``bonito burger'' with minced bonito cutlet, and the 250 yen ``shrimp cutlet burger''.
All breads are reasonably priced and are recommended for breakfast or snacks. You can also take out coffee and ouchiyama milk soft serve ice cream.

It's an easy breakfast set with bread.

There is a grassy field outside Michi-no-eki, and there is also some play equipment for children to play on, such as an arbor, benches, and a slide.
There are mountains and a large pond in front of you, and the scenery is perfect. Stop by on your drive as a place to relax and refresh yourself.
It looks like it would be nice to take out food and eat it outside.

There is also a monument commemorating the visit of His Imperial Highness the Crown Prince in 2013, and there are also interesting contemporary art objects scattered around.

Similarly, the promenade that continues to the other side of the pond is perfect for a short walk! It goes all the way around the pond, and you can see Michi-no-eki from the deck on the opposite bank, just like in the photo.
