Shuriken?
Fight?
A cartoon character?

The Iga-ryu ninja were loyal to their employers and traveled around the country conducting espionage activities while living as farmers. Experience the charm of ninjas at NinjaMUSEUMofIgaryu, from a real ninja mansion guided by a ninja, to a variety of valuable materials, souvenirs ranging from cool to pop, to an overwhelmingly impressive ninja show. Let's enjoy it to the fullest!

NinjaMUSEUMofIgaryu is located in the scenic Ueno Park, approximately 10 minutes by car from the Ueno Higashi Interchange on the Meihan National Highway.
In autumn, the leaves turn bright colors and you can enjoy a pleasant stroll along the way to your destination.

``Iga-ryu'' is a school of ninjutsu that has been passed down in IgaCity and NabariCity.
Arashi's Satoshi Ohno played an Iga-ryu ninja in the movie ``Shinobi no Kuni'' and became a hot topic.

When you enter, the first thing a ninja will show you is this ninja mansion.
It seems to have been relocated from an actual building where ninjas lived. The thick beams are reminiscent of those days.

While explaining the mansion's tricks and mechanisms,
``My friends are looking at me. Do you know where they're hiding?'' said the ninja guide.
Feeling someone watching me, I looked up and saw a ninja peeking out from the attic!

The watermark is designed so that it cannot be seen unless light shines on it.

A ``sword hiding'' mechanism that you can demonstrate.
Their speedy movements and smooth body movements are impressive, and you'll be surprised by their highly honed physical abilities that you'll miss if you look away even for a moment. The smile at the end is very friendly.
The way he talked about how Iga-ryu ninjas valued their families very much was also impressive.

Once the ninja has finished guiding you through the mansion, the route will lead you to the stairs leading underground.

There's something suspicious about it...?

As I thought, what I found in the basement was the ``Ninja Experience Hall'', an exhibition room where you can explore in peace.

More than 200 ninja tools used during ninja operations are carefully preserved and displayed.
It is said that the ninjas mastered so many tools while living as farmers and traveling to distant lands for espionage activities in the guise of street performers and acrobats.
It is said that he was taught ninjutsu from the age of three and lived his entire life as a ninja.

The souls of the triplets, up to a hundred.

Outside is the ``Ninja Tradition Museum''.
Here, too, you can see deciphered codes, ancient documents, and other interesting materials.

From the exhibits, you can learn about the way ninjas lived at the time.
The origin of ninjutsu is said to be Shinobi in the Asuka period, and it was called by various names depending on the era, such as ``Ukami'' in the Nara period and ``Kanja'' and Ranpa in the Sengoku period. In the Edo period, it was said to be ``onmitsu'', and in the Taisho period it was ``ninja'', but since they were ninjas, the truth is not clear, and Iga The origin of the style is said to have been created by villains who opposed the power of temples and shrines during the Kamakura period.

You can purchase a variety of ninja goods that are only available here at the shop ``Ninjabo'' that is attached to the Ninja Folklore Museum.
We also sell colorful and photogenic shuriken.

A strap of Kewpie wearing costumes in 10 colors.
The bright ninja costumes are made from IgaKumihimoBraids, which is known as a nationally designated traditional craft. Would you like one as a memory of your trip?

Iga-Yaki chopstick rest. It seems to be a popular item among tourists from overseas.
Iga-Yaki, which has been around since the Nara period, is a nationally designated traditional craft. The pale green color is elegant and glossy.

You can also experience throwing shuriken.
Aim at a target made of styrofoam and enjoy! (Paid separately from admission fee)

And above all, what you can't miss is the ``Ninjutsu Demonstration Show.''
The demonstration of the ninja tools that were actually used was so powerful that it would be a shame to call it a "show"! It's so powerful that some children burst into tears, and the program changes depending on the audience that day.

Very popular with people from overseas!
The venue is the Ninja Experience Square. The ninja show is separate from the admission fee.

Magical technique ``Kuji self-defense method''. It is filled with a solemn atmosphere of people chanting spells with their minds unified, and there is a sense of tension.
From there, a brave swordsmanship is displayed. What is being used is a real sword!

The battle scenes of the female ninja ``kunoichi'' are also impressive!
Swift, brave, and beautiful, it will take your breath away. However, the Iga-ryu ninja's mission was to survive and bring back information, so fighting with others was a last resort.
It is said that shuriken and other weapons were used as self-defense techniques to hide, escape, and avoid losing one's life.

You can only become an Iga-ryu ninja if you survive. It's a cool way of life!
At the end of the show, members of the Iga Ninja Special Forces ``Asura'' who showed off their ninjutsu and techniques will pose for you.

After touring the museum, let's take a short walk inside Ueno Park.
Iga Ueno Castle has beautiful white walls.

By the way, there are a number of Ninja Transformation Places in IgaCity where you can rent ninja costumes, so why not transform into a ninja and liven up your mood!
There are versions for adults and children, so dressing the whole family in ninja costumes is sure to make wonderful memories.

Iga's castle town was selected as the ``Iga Ueno Castle Town Cultural Landscape'' in ``Japan's 20 20th Century Heritage Sites'' that should be preserved for future generations, announced by the Japan ICOMOS National Committee in December 2017.
We recommend donning a ninja costume and strolling through the townscape, which has been praised as a ``representative example of modern architecture that fits the urban landscape of a former castle town,'' and visiting ninja-related spots and restaurants.

IgaCity, which has been declared a ``Ninja City,'' is a ninja village. What was the view from this high stone wall during the era when ninjas were active?
