With the opening of Kisei Expressway and National Route 42 Kumano-Owase Road, "Michi-no-eki KihochoUmigamePark" has become easier to access. There was a lot of fun with a sea turtle theme, including being able to interact with sea turtles!

`` Michi-no-eki KihochoUmigamePark'' is located along National Route 42.

This is the base for sea turtle protection and awareness activities in KihoTown where sea turtles come to lay eggs. First, you will be greeted by a stone statue of a sea turtle.

On the premises there are a ``sea turtle contact park'', a ``product hall'', and a ``restaurant''.
First, let's go to the "Sea Turtle Contact Park". There is a slope leading into the facility, so it is safe for wheelchairs and strollers.

When you enter the building, you will see sea turtles swimming leisurely in the large pool. Three types of sea turtles are kept here: loggerhead sea turtles, green sea turtles, and hawksbill turtles.

Except for the pool, sea turtles came to visit us. You can also experience feeding sea turtles.
(For the health of sea turtles, quantities are limited, 200 yen each time)

If you go down the stairs next to the pool, you can see sea turtles swimming from the side.

Just like Ryugu Castle!? It's perfect as a photo spot!

You can also enjoy taking commemorative photos with Instagram photo panels and face-fitting panels inside the facility.

Can you become a hermit? Let's carry a turtle's shell on your back!

There are panels on the walls of the tank that give you detailed information about sea turtles, so you can learn about their ecology.

There is a "touching pool" here, an aquarium where you can touch familiar sea creatures. Touch a turban shell or a sea slug! What does it feel like?

There is also an aquarium filled with fish that live in the Kumano sea, which was given to us by a fisherman.

The sea turtle touch held on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays is also very popular.
Touching a sea turtle for the first time is an exciting experience for both children and adults alike. You can rest assured that the zookeeper will carefully teach you how to handle the animals.

There are also other interesting monthly events held on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, such as the Turtle Race.

If you want to learn more about sea turtles and other sea creatures, head to the antenna shop inside the museum. We sell cute sea turtle goods that are limited to the area.

Lots of miscellaneous goods with cute sea turtle motifs!

It can be difficult to choose souvenirs such as Hawaiian goods and Kumano Kodo goods.

Next, we went to the restaurant on the second floor of the product building.

The second floor can be accessed by stairs or elevator. You can enjoy your meal at the open restaurant overlooking the sea. Children's tableware and children's chairs are also available.

First, buy a meal ticket.
There is a wide variety of menu items, from seafood menus such as whitebait bowl to unique menus with turtle motifs.

I couldn't decide which one to eat, but I ordered the "Turtle-san Curry", which was inspired by the sea turtle, which is the symbol of this restaurant. Local mothers will cook the food for you.

The curry roux looks like the sea, with a sea turtle swimming above it!

There is a slightly spicy curry for adults called ``Ki-kun'' for 800 yen (tax included), and a sweet curry with candy ``Takara-chan'' for 500 yen (tax included), which is great for parents and children to enjoy together. .

You can feel the warmth of the staff as they create each sea turtle in the shape of a sea turtle after you place your order.

I'm also happy that the food and beverage menu allows for take-out.

There is also an observation terrace on the 3rd floor! You can take a break while looking out at the majestic Shichirigahama coastline. You can spend a relaxing time surrounded by the sea, sky, and mountains of HigashiKishu.

The product hall on the first floor is full of locally produced seasonal agricultural products and processed products!

We have fresh vegetables brought in every morning by local farmers in KihoTown. Due to its popularity, we recommend visiting early in the day when it has a large selection of items.

There are also many sweets made with mandarin oranges and Meyer lemons that make great souvenirs, and sweets with sea turtle motifs.

We recommend the turtle-shaped "Kamekko", an original product of the sea turtle park.
There are five flavors: plain, mandarin orange, Meyer lemon, coffee, and matcha, and mandarin orange and Meyer lemon contain fruit pulp. 50 yen/1 piece

We also recommend the sea turtle cookies!A melt-in-your-mouth cookie made with KihoTown 's specialty Meyer lemon. Egg-free. 500 yen (tax included)

There are also lots of turtle-themed sweets and mandarin orange sweets!

Why not try buying some local sweets?

There are a lot of mandarin oranges outside the product store too! This is a landscape unique to this area where mandarin oranges are actively cultivated.

The information and rest corner next door is a space with benches and other facilities to soothe the fatigue of your journey.

You can check road information, weather information, and local tourist information using the request terminal. It is also convenient for checking information on recommended tourist spots in the area.

There are also bicycle rentals, so it's great for those who want to cycle around the neighborhood.

If you just want to stop by, we recommend the fast food on the first floor.
Once you try it, you'll be addicted! The piping hot takoyaki and rich soft-serve ice cream are perfect for takeout when you're hungry.

At Sea Turtle Park, various events are held every year, such as the weekly festival in April, the mandarin orange festival in October, and the flea market held irregularly, and the park is crowded with many visitors.
