Yokoyama Observatory will be renewed in spring 2018! Three terraces have been transformed into beautiful wood-grained decks, each offering a different spectacular view. In addition, a new cafe, ``Tenku Cafe Terrace,'' has opened in the summer where you can enjoy ingredients from the Ise-Shima region. I immediately went to the new Yokoyama Observation Deck, which not only allows you to enjoy the view of Ago Bay, but also has become a relaxing spot!
Yokoyama Observation Deck in ShimaCity offers a panoramic view of the beautiful sea and green landscape that characterizes the Ise-Shima region.
Yokoyama Observatory is an observation deck located on Yokoyama at an altitude of 203 meters.
When you think of an observation deck, you have the image of having to drive far into the mountains, but this observatory is just a short drive from the main road of National Route 167, and is also a 10-minute drive from Kintetsu Ugata Station, so it's perfect for a quick stroll while out and about. The easy access to stop by is also attractive.
If that area is full, there is a large parking lot a little further down near the Yokoyama Visitor Center, so please use that parking lot.
There are also restrooms in the parking lot. It's safe to do this first.
First, go to "Tenku Cafe Terrace". The approach to the observatory is a gentle slope, and it seems easy to walk here even in sandals. It is also easy to push strollers and wheelchairs.
As you gradually climb up, your anticipation for the terrace increases! What kind of scenery is waiting for you?
The vast blue sky and blue sea, and the many islands floating there...you can't help but be moved.
If you can see this much scenery, you will be able to climb up the hill just a little while ago. It's so beautiful that your fatigue will be blown away.
A new cypress deck has been installed, creating a bright and spacious space. On sunny days, the sunlight through the trees swaying in the wind appears on the deck, giving you a soothing feeling.
This cafe is located at the top of the stairs on the terrace, and it is a new spot that opened in the summer due to recent renovations!
The cafe is a self-service restaurant where you order what you like at the counter and pick it up.
The view from your seat is also amazing! Even in summer, the breeze passes through and makes you feel cool.

I ordered the ``Spanish Prosciutto Ham Bagel Sandwich'' (480 yen, tax included) and the ``Aosa Scone Sandwich (Cream Cheese)'' (250 yen, tax included).
The bagel sandwich has a salty taste from the prosciutto, making it a filling dish.
In the scone sandwich, the scent of seaweed mixed into the scone goes perfectly with the cream cheese! ShimaCity is a seaweed producing area, accounting for 70% of the total production in Japan.
As you can see, the point is that there is a wide variety of menu items using ingredients from Ise-Shima.
"Grape & Berry" (350 yen, tax included) It was refreshing and easy to drink, and the vinegar effect made it a cup that would make you feel energetic! They also have standard coffee (350 yen, tax included), soft drinks, and tapioca drinks.
One is the classic vanilla. We recommend the "Shiso Yogurt" made with Shima-produced Shiso!
I ordered a mix with vanilla. The pink color of shiso stands out against the blue sky! The refreshing taste of perilla and yogurt makes it easy to eat.
You can sit on a bench or get close to the fence to take a photo. It's a covered corner where you can enjoy the view comfortably without worrying about sunlight.

Proceed along the promenade from Tenku Cafe Terrace. It feels so good when there is shade from the trees and the breeze blows!
Even in the hot summer, you can walk there as if you were just taking a leisurely stroll.
There are information boards posted at various places along the promenade, so make sure to check how far ahead each path is before proceeding.
As the name suggests, the shade of the trees on the terrace is a cool space. Here you can enjoy the view while sitting at the wooden counter.
You can spend your time at the counter as you like, drinking drinks and chatting.
The way up is surrounded by trees, so you can feel as if you are taking a forest bath in nature.
There are some spots where you can see the scenery from between the trees, so it's fun to look for them!
The view is even more exhilarating since it is located higher up than the previous observation deck.
There's nothing blocking your view, so you can enjoy the feeling of looking down on the ocean. Sit on the long bench and enjoy the scenery while feeling the breeze.
From the observation deck surrounded by trees, you can clearly see the islands floating in the sea.
