Trekking to Nyudogatake in SuzukaCity ♪ You must try “Tori Meshi” from Tsubaki Kaikan, which is loved by the locals!

Mt. Nyudogatake has been selected as one of the Suzuka Seven Mountains, and from the top you can enjoy a wonderful view from Suzuka to Ise Bay. There are courses ranging from those for beginners to those for advanced climbers, so you can choose the course that suits your level. What you should also enjoy while climbing is Suzuka's local dish ``Tsubaki Torimeshi'', which can be eaten at ``Tsubaki Kaikan'' at the foot of Nyudogatake. This time, I will report on the climbing course of Nyudogatake and Suzuka's soul food "Torimeshi"!

Nyudogatake offers a beautiful view from the top of Suzuka to Ise Bay. This time, after climbing Nyudogatake, we are planning to eat Suzuka's local dish "Tsubaki Torimeshi" at "Tsubaki Kaikan"! With delicious food as our goal, we parked our car at the climber's parking lot at TsubakiGrandShrine and headed to the entrance to the mountain climbing course.
On the day of the hike, we recommend clothing that is easy to move in, and as the wind can be strong at the top, clothing that will protect you from the cold is recommended. Shoes with non-slip properties are a good idea! It is also helpful to have gloves with non-slip gloves.
The road will be muddy the day after the rain, so be careful not to slip!

On the climbing course of Nyudogatake
"Nihonmatsu Course" (up: about 2 and a half hours one way, down: about 2 hours one way),
"Idoya Course" (up: about 2 and a half hours one way, down: about 2 hours one way),
"Kitaone Course" (Up: Approximately 3 hours one way, Down: Approximately 2 hours one way)
There are 3 courses. This time, I would like to climb the mountain using the ``Nihonmatsu Course'', which is suitable for beginners, and descend using the ``Kitaone Course'', which is suitable for intermediate climbers. I'll do my best to reach the top!

After walking a bit from the information sign, I found the first sign. There are up to 10 signboards up to the top, so start climbing towards each signboard!
Climb the course using the pink ribbons along the way as landmarks.

It takes about 20 minutes to walk from the No. 1 signboard. There was a place where spring water was coming out! The surrounding area is silent and the only sound is the murmur of water. I feel like my heart is being cleansed.

As we proceeded further, a natural wooden staircase appeared. Climb while being careful not to slip. The sunlight shining through the trees is beautiful and you can feel the power of the forest.

It's been about 2 hours since we started climbing. As we neared the top, we began to see the cityscape of Suzuka through the trees. Just a little more to the top! I feel a sense of accomplishment so far.

Finally reached the top! A photo taken together with the large torii gate of TsubakiGrandShrine stands at the top. Wow, the building is so small! You can see all the way to the horizon of Ise Bay and it's extremely refreshing!

It took about two and a half hours to reach the top. The course had almost no steep slopes, so even beginners were able to climb it!
You can have this wonderful 360-degree panoramic landscape all to yourself... It was worth the effort to climb up! It's a moment filled with a sense of accomplishment that can only be achieved through trekking.

After fully enjoying the spectacular view, I would like to descend the mountain using the "Kitaone Course". You can also enjoy a great view from the hill on the way down. The ``Kitaone Course'' is a little more hilly than the ``Nihonmatsu Course,'' so please proceed with caution!

On this course, there is the Asebi Tunnel a little way down from the top. A tunnel made of trees is wonderful!

There is also a place halfway up the mountain surrounded by large trees like this one! You'll feel like you're a dwarf.

About an hour and a half after starting our descent, we were able to return to the entrance. The slope is steeper than the "Nihonmatsu Course" in many places, so please be careful while descending while using the ropes set at key points!
Thanks to all the walking and exercise, my stomach is flat... Next, I would like to head to "Tsubaki Kaikan" and try "Tsubaki Torimeshi"!

Just a short walk from the entrance to Mt. Nyudogatake. We have arrived at “Tsubaki Kaikan”!
This facility is known as a venue for meals and receptions, as well as a resting place while visiting TsubakiGrandShrine. It also serves as a lodging facility, so you can stay overnight if you make a reservation.

This is the restaurant "Tsubaki Restaurant" on the first floor. It is a relaxing space for a wide range of customers, from sightseeing and worshipers to local residents.

Immediately order “Tori Meshi Set Meal Plum” (648 yen/tax included)! In the past, many households in this area kept chickens, and ``torimeshi'' was a popular local dish in each household. Tsubaki Kaikan's specialty, ``Tsubaki Torimeshi'', originated in the past when the wife of the previous chief priest served it as a hospitality to worshipers, and has been passed down to this day.

Let's have it then! The rice has a strong flavor from the chicken, and you can't help but eat it with your chopsticks. It has a simple and nostalgic taste that makes you feel relaxed. I'm happy because my stomach was full from climbing♪

By the way, ``Tsubaki Torimeshi'' is also available for take-out. It is said that some people even take this ``Tsubaki Torimeshiori'' (490 yen/tax included) with them when they head up the mountain to `` Nyudogatake.''
However, the food is ready at around 10am every day, so if you want to order earlier than that, you'll need to make a reservation in advance. Please make a reservation by noon the day before!

Next, let's have dessert! "Ise Matcha Soft" is a dessert created in collaboration with "Ise Matcha Co., Ltd." that has been on sale since August 2018 (400 yen/tax included). The cone is stick-shaped, making it easier to hold than regular soft serve ice cream! (This text has been deleted)
Made with plenty of high-quality Ise matcha, it has a rich adult flavor with a moderate sweetness.

Meal 10:00-17:00 (Camellia rice will end as soon as it runs out)

Before heading home, I came to the souvenir corner next to the entrance to buy some souvenirs. We carry a wide variety of products, including local and prefectural specialties, as well as Tsubaki Kaikan original products. It's fun to wonder what to get as a souvenir♪

Among the many souvenirs lined up, I couldn't help but pick up Tsubaki Kaikan's original Tsubaki Kaikan product, kabusetea Petit Tea Bag (180 yen/tax included for 2 pieces). The camellia design is so cute♪ This product is popular as a small gift to remember from your travels! If you give it as a souvenir, it will look good ♪

And another souvenir. “Enmusubi Konnyaku” (270 yen/tax included) has a heart-shaped package that will make your heart flutter. The white, bite-sized round konnyaku contains black honey and kinako, making it a healthy dessert. May you have good relationships with people, work, and various things...♪

It was snowing on the day of the interview, and there were some parts of the mountain that were difficult to climb, but I couldn't help but feel a sense of fulfillment when I was able to climb the mountain on my own! When I looked down at the cityscape from the top, I couldn't help but exclaim, ``I've done it!''
Hmm, next time I head out to climb a mountain, I'd like to buy some "Tsubaki Torimeshi" in advance and eat it at the top!
I bought a lot of souvenirs and went home feeling excited. It was fun to move my body and fill my stomach!
Everyone, please come and refresh your mind and body!
