Kazahaya no Sato, the hometown of kappa, located in TsuCity City, Mie Prefecture, is the first ``flower garden that combines welfare and the environment'' in Japan, where people with disabilities and facility staff work together to provide horticultural welfare. . You can enjoy ``plum'' in early spring, ``wisteria'' in spring, and ``hydrangea'' in summer. This time, we would like to introduce you to the Kazahaya no Sato Plum Festival, which will let you know the arrival of spring as soon as possible.
Kazahaya TsuCity, Mie Prefecture, about 10 minutes by car from Hisai IC. It is located on the banks of Kazehaya Pond, which has a circumference of 3.8 km, and within the ``Ise Onsen Golf Club'', a hilly area of approximately 70,000 square meters.
It is operated by the social welfare corporation ``Shojukai''.
As the first flower garden in Japan to incorporate ``horticultural welfare,'' we are working to integrate welfare and the environment, and with the combined efforts of people with disabilities and facility staff, we have grown approximately 500 plum trees, 77,700 hydrangeas, and 10 varieties. We manage wisteria.
*The photos posted were taken after February 2020.
The name of the facility, ``Kazahaya no Sato,'' comes from ``Kazahaya Pond'' located on the premises.
By the way, this Kazuhaya Pond is one of 800 irrigation ponds built across the country by Emperor Suinin in 35 AD.
During the Sengoku period, the lord of the Tsushiro domain, TakatoraTodo, named the land on which he did irrigation work "Kazehaya," hence the name "Kazehaya Pond," and today it is said to be one of the prefecture's leading water sources for rice fields. thing.
It is said that the reason why it is said to be the hometown of the kappa is because the kappa who lived in the nearby kumozu moved to Kazehaya Pond.
Plum blossoms are also known as ``Hyakkasakigake'' and are known as the earliest flowers to bloom in the year.
Plum blossoms, which bloom beautifully in snowy landscapes and cold skies, are considered to be auspicious flowers because of their strong vitality, and have long been valued as New Year's decorations. Until the middle of the Heian period in the mid-9th century, ``ume'' was the leading flower among flowers, so much so that when people talked about ``flower,'' they meant plum rather than cherry blossoms.
Kazahaya no Sato's plum blossoms are very popular with photographers, and many are posted on Instagram and Twitter.
Park your car in the parking lot, which is free for both regular cars and large sightseeing buses, and walk down the road next to the Hanazono Entrance sign. The scent of plum blossoms wafts in the wind.
Pay the entrance fee at the reception desk and head to the main square.
The entrance fee for 2024 will vary depending on the blooming season (the time when plum blossoms are best viewed). Admission is from 800 yen for university students and above, 400 yen for middle school and high school students and above, and free for elementary school students and younger and those with a disability certificate.
*For admission fees, please check the official website or call.
Dogs are also allowed to enter Kazahaya no Sato. If you wear a leash, you can walk around the entire flower garden.
There is also a photo stand and dog house for dogs, so you can take photos of cute dogs among the plum blossoms. There is also a large dog run with natural grass, so you can run freely without a leash. It's also a great spot for dog lovers, where you can enjoy a walk with your dog while feeling the seasons.
In addition, there are children's athletics and face-out panels in the park, so there are lots of things that kids can enjoy!
During the period, a children's stamp rally will also be held, which the whole family can enjoy.
As I was walking towards the main square, one thing that caught my eye was this Yoro plum tree.
This tree is over 100 years old and can be said to be the symbol of Kazahaya no Sato.
With a trunk and branches that have the character and elegance of the years, you'll want to stop and stare at it for a while.
This is the red and white weeping plum tree in the main square.
Weeping plums are connected trees, so it seems that when planting the trees, the base trees were carefully considered to ensure a good balance of red and white.
Red and white weeping plums and blue sky. This is definitely an Instagram-worthy item.
Under the blue sky, surrounded by red and white weeping plum blossoms on a carpet of green grass, surrounded by the gentle scent of plum blossoms, you will feel so calm and leisurely that you will almost forget the passage of time.
From here, I would like to introduce plums that I found in the garden.
This is a particularly bright red plum.
``Kagoshima Kobai'' is a representative of the red plums, and is a beautiful red plum with medium-sized flowers and double blooms.
It is a rather late-blooming variety, but due to the mild winter this year, it was already at its peak.
Next to Kagoshima Kobai is ``Yaetobai'', which has been popular since ancient times.
The flowers bloom facing downward, so when you look up from below, the sun shines through the petals and they look even more beautiful.
This is "as you wish". White and pink flowers bloom from one tree.
Some trees have different colors on each branch, others have a mixture of white and pink blooms on a single branch, and some trees only have white or pink blooms.
Also, it seems that flowers of the same color do not bloom on the same branch every year, making this a rare plum that blooms exactly as you want.
The ``Omimadomari'' flower blooms in different colors depending on the tree and branch, but this one is even rarer.
One flower is half white and half pink.
There are dozens of ``as you wish'' trees in the park, so it might be fun to stroll around looking for half-and-half ones.
This half & half is said to be there in some years and not there in other years, so it might be fun to keep track of what was here last year...every year.
This is "Aojiku Shidare" (Aojiku Shidare).
It is a green-white double plum. The blue axis type has thick branches, green branches and sepals, and greenish-white buds, so although the flower color is white, the overall appearance is greenish-white.
This is "Beni Chidori".
A bright and beautiful red flower plum with single blooms and round petals. It blooms well and has a beautiful red color, so even a single plant is eye-catching.
In Kazahaya no Sato's garden, a `` Hanachozu'' filled with flowers appears every season.
During the plum season, there are cute Hanachozu designed with white, red, and dark pink plum blossoms. This is also a popular photo spot that is sure to make a great photo.
There are many spots to take pictures of spectacular plum blossoms within the park.
There are places where you can admire the flowers from a slightly higher place, so it's fun to take a leisurely stroll around the park and find your favorite scenery.
You can enjoy a footbath in the park.
You can use it to take a break while enjoying the spectacular view of plum blossoms. On a chilly day, it's nice to enjoy the spring scenery while keeping your feet warm.
This is the gazebo in the center. There is a charcoal fireplace inside, so you can take a breather even on cold days.
At Kazahaya Chaya in the park, you can enjoy Tsu's local gourmet dishes such as `` TsuGyoza'' and ``Anotsu Yakisoba'', as well as ``Mitarashi Dango'', which is a must when viewing cherry blossoms.
During the Plum Festival, food trucks will be set up (only on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays) and photo sessions will be held, so you can not only enjoy the plum blossoms but also gourmet food.
For those who find it a little difficult to walk, we provide golf cart transportation from Iriro Gate to Kazahayaya Chaya. Available from 9:00 to 16:00.
At Kazahaya no Sato, the ``Wisteria Festival'' is held from around April every year.
This is a very large wisteria trellis in the park. (*The photo was taken during the peak viewing period)
There are wisteria trellis with 10 different designs on the 10,000 square meter site, and 10 varieties of wisteria are in full bloom on the standing trees in the 58,000 square meter park. The best time to see them is from April to May, when they are in full bloom as shown in the photo, creating a spectacular view. I'll give it to you.
The Hydrangea Festival is held from late May to early July.
The hydrangeas are just as spectacular! (*The photo was taken during the peak viewing period)
We highly recommend that you come and see the 77,000 hydrangeas in full bloom during the season.
As Sei Shonagon said in his ``Millow Book'', ``The flowers on trees are both dark and light red plums.'' In the past, when it came to flowers, it was plums that could be enjoyed for their fragrance and blossoms.
500 plum trees on the grass carpet. Forgetting that you are on a golf course, you will be surrounded by the scent of plum blossoms in a structure reminiscent of a Japanese garden, and as you look at the cute red and white plum blossoms, you will feel like you can understand the feelings of the aristocrats of the past.
Entrance fees and plum sales at Kazahaya no Sato will be used to support people with disabilities and welfare facility users, making it a place where you can have fun while contributing to welfare.
In addition, it takes 70 minutes to visit IseJingu on National Route 23, making it the perfect place to stop off on your way to and from sightseeing in Ise-Shima, so why not take a trip there when you're in Mie?
The plum festival is held every year from mid-February to early March. The opening period varies depending on the weather that year, so please inquire on the official website or by phone (059-255-5755).
