Developed with all our heart and soul, ``Let's create products that are rooted in our hometown.''
``Niku no Kitaya'' is a butcher shop in a small town whose survival was at times in jeopardy due to depopulation. Supported by local people for over 60 years.
I love my hometown, and with my feelings of gratitude towards my hometown, I decided to create products that are rooted in my hometown! “Shima Aosa Pork” was developed with great care.
ShimaCity has the highest yield of seaweed "Ulva" in the nation
"Aosa" is a seaweed that is rich in vitamins and calcium, and has an extremely high nutritional value.
We wondered if it would be possible to make something that would become one of Shima's special delicacies by utilizing the nutritious green lettuce, which is a local specialty of Shima. In 2017, as part of the Mie Agriculture and Commerce Collaboration Promotion Fund subsidy project, Tsutsumi Pig Farm in Isobe Town, Shima City, was founded. Collaborate and start growing.
It was commercialized and released in 2019, and was certified as one of the Shima brands in March.
Give back to your hometown
The butcher shop ``Niku no Kitaya'' in Hamajima-cho, ShimaCity processes these local branded pork into ``raw ham,'' ``wieners,'' and ``frankfurters'' to make them even more delicious.
The butcher shop has been in business for over 60 years, but at one point they considered closing the shop.
Representative director Keiko Inoue
``There was a time when the survival of the store was in doubt due to the declining birthrate and aging population, but thanks to the support of local people, we were able to continue.
I wanted to give something back to my hometown, which is full of humanity and love, so I have been working on developing products that are rooted in my hometown. ”

Tsutsumi pig farm surrounded by rich nature
The Tsutsumi pig farm that we collaborated with is already highly acclaimed for its ``Healthy and Beautiful Pig'' brand of pigs, and is a reliable and proven pig farm.
By feeding the nutrient-rich sea lettuce to the ``Healthy Beautiful Pork,'' which is already recognized as a branded pig, we have upgraded the meat to ``Shima Aosa Pork,'' which has a sweet taste and a melt-in-your-mouth soft texture.
We take time and effort to prepare delicious pork.
At first, we carefully removed all the garbage from locally grown green lettuce, dried it in the sun, and fed it to the animals.
However, since pigs are very delicate, lumps of air can cause indigestion and make them sick, so it was a struggle.
So, although it was time consuming, they decided to powder the sun-dried sea lettuce and mix it with other feed.
However, in order to raise delicious pigs, we spare no time and effort, and carefully prepare each pig one by one.
[Shima Aosa Pork] made possible because it is a restaurant loved by locals
As mentioned above, it took time and effort to make seaweed so that pigs could eat it, and it was difficult for small butchers in the town to get enough of it.
However, it is a good thing for the sea lettuce producers to be able to find useful value in the sea lettuce that was previously discarded but is not available on the market. It seems that they may even deliver it to you in minced condition.
It seems like the region is coming together to promote a new local specialty.
Recommended way to eat #1: Pork Shabu Salad
Pork shabu salad is highly recommended on a hot summer day. You can eat plenty of nutritious pork and vegetables.
The ``shabu-shabu sauce (ponzu sauce)'' contains plenty of oyster extract from Shima, and the nutrition of oysters is added, making it a refreshing meal that is perfect for preventing summer fatigue!
prosciutto and avocado salad
In order to bring out the flavor of the ingredients, the ``smoked loin ham'' is smoked with a low salt content and a fragrant aroma, so you can enjoy it as is.
Skewers for barbecue
During the period of refraining from going out, "#barbecue at home" became a hot topic, and I hope everyone got creative and had a lot of fun.
At times like these, here is a dish that looks bright and fun: Kushiyaki. Colorful vegetables and meat are luxuriously skewered and cooked slowly until both sides are golden brown.
It is also a dish where you can enjoy the original taste of pork.
"Shima Aosa Pork", which is loved by the local community and lovingly raised by a small butcher shop that loves the local community, has sweet meat, a melt-in-your-mouth soft texture, and is full of nutrition.

I want it! heir
The current problem is that the birthrate is declining and the population is aging, and there are no successors. It seems that not only the Kita family but also the aosa producers are concerned about the issue of successors.
From President Inoue, who wants to continue to liven up the local area of Shima with "Shima Aosa Pork" together with the local community,
"The town has a complete backup system, so if there is anyone who would like to carry on the Kita family name for future generations, please contact us. I will cooperate as long as I am physically able."
I received a message saying.
