Free diving & charcoal grilling! At Satoumian, an AmaHut(Amagoya)experience facility, you can enjoy fresh seafood♪

The ama culture has been practiced for 3,000 years by free diving into the sea to catch fish and shellfish with both hands. In 2017, it was recognized by the country as an "Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property." ``Wouldn't it be better to use oxygen cylinders to catch more?'' ``We only catch enough for ourselves.'' Ama divers who coexist with the sea and protect it are undoubtedly the goddesses of the sea. There was a lot of emotion and warmth when I tasted the gourmet seafood caught by the goddess. *This article is the Japanese version of a report written in traditional Chinese by a Taiwanese writer for the traditional Chinese website "Mie Travel Information Book."
This article introduces the charms of Mie Prefecture for foreigners who use traditional Chinese, so your perspective may be a little different, but please enjoy it as well.

In fact, Mie Prefecture has the most ama divers in Japan.
The women, whose trademark is white cotton cloth, have no fishing nets or oxygen tanks, and catch seasonal seafood using only their hands and diving.
Therefore, the seafood caught by Ama divers is the freshest and ``undamaged''.
This makes it a highly valued and popular product.
Ama divers work two to three hours a day.
AmaHut(Amagoya)serves as a place for the ama divers who work in the sea to warm up, rest, eat, and socialize throughout the year, and is an extremely important place for the ama divers to be together with the sea.
At Satoumian, an AmaHut(Amagoya)experience facility, you can fully enjoy such an AmaHut(Amagoya)facility.
"Nice to meet you. Thank you for your time today."
After greeting the Ama divers, I suddenly remembered that they were recognized as an ``Important Intangible Cultural Property'' by Japan.
These people grill seafood for me. What an honor!
The bamboo basket contains freshly caught spiny lobster, black abalone, turban shell, and dried fish.
There's also a cypress fan shell and a giant squid that's still moving!
The cast iron pot is filled with fluffy hijiki rice and miso soup with seaweed.
(Mie Prefecture has the highest yield of sea lettuce in Japan!)
Now, let's bake it!
Even though I'm hungry, I can't help but marvel at the ama's charcoal grilling techniques.
Based on our many years of experience, we judge the various sizes of ingredients, meat quality, and taste, and control the heat to the best possible level.
Let's eat!
Each bite of the huge cypress fan shell that the Ama divers have just caught has a thick, elastic texture that fills your mouth with the deliciousness of the ocean.
I'm sure you'll be grateful for the blessings of the sea and the ama divers every time you take a bite!
The best part of this facility is that you can enjoy not only the food but also the conversation with the Ama divers.
When I asked the diver woman, ``Do you like the sea?'', she answered, ``I do!''
The look on her face is like that of a maiden thinking about her lover.
``Isn't it cold when diving in winter?'' I asked again, and with a smile, ``The sea in winter is warmer than the air.''
It was truly a shocking statement.
This is a sudden question, but what is this mysterious stone-like thing?
This talisman with a star on it, located at Shinmei-JinjaShrine, where the Ama divers pay their respects, means that the Ama divers will return safely from the sea.
Because of this, Shinmei-JinjaShrine is said to be gaining popularity among women as a "power spot that can make one of their wishes come true."
I would like to stop by after eating rice♪
Time flies when you're having fun talking.
Now comes the main dish!
Ise lobsters are very beautiful and the flesh is soft and fluffy! Sweet and extremely delicious!
I was overwhelmed by the unique texture of the black abalone and the rich flavor of the shellfish.
Lastly, let's enjoy some dried fish from Ama divers.
The salt, miso, and sea breeze are just the right seasonings to round out this seafood gourmet meal perfectly. (This time, 10,450 yen course for 3 or more people)
After spending this fun time, I understood the feelings of those who frequent AmaHut(Amagoya).
I also want to talk to them while eating delicious food.
yes. Before I knew it, I had become a fan of Ama.
I have decided to come back here again.
