Enjoy a combination of your favorite activities in the great nature of HigashiKishu at Sea Kayak Station Oyama House!
掲載日:2020.12.08
Kihoku Town and OwaseCity KihokuTown home to the sea, mountains, rivers, and nature. Sea Kayak Station Oyama House offers a variety of activities based in this naturally rich field. One of them, the ``Self-Travel Support System,'' is a luxurious plan that allows you to enjoy a full day by combining your favorite activities! I would like to introduce how I experienced the new slackline + hammock experience with my family!
Sea Kayak Station Oyama House takes advantage of the rich nature of the southern part of Mie Prefecture, centered on KihokuTown, and offers sea kayaking and snorkeling in the Kumano Sea, hiking and cycling on the Magose Pass on the Kumano Kodo, and hiking and cycling on the Choshi River. We offer outdoor sports and activities such as playing in the river.
In particular, I want to enjoy the "Self-Travel Support System" that allows you to combine and enjoy your favorite programs from those programs! A luxurious plan that will satisfy your feelings!
Slackline and hammock, which started in 2019, are popular programs that can only be experienced through the “Self Travel Support System”!
Slacklining, a sport in which you walk on a 5-6cm wide belt stretched tightly between trees, looks difficult, and I'm so excited! Let's try it out now!
The meeting place for this day is the parking lot at the entrance to Yakiyama Pass on the Kumano Kodo World Heritage Site.
Mr. Morita, an instructor and guide from Koyama House, was waiting for us!
The slackline venue is about 800m walk from here.
The whole family transforms into coveralls provided by Koyama House so they don't have to worry about getting dirty!
Now you can play to your heart's content♪
Currently, in order to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, we are taking participants' temperatures, disinfecting their hands when using the shuttle to and from the venue, and having staff wear mouth shields.
After getting ready and using the restroom at the parking lot, we headed up the road to Niconico Park, the venue in the mountains!
This Nico Nico Park was built by local elementary school 3rd graders who spent half a year building it.
The signboard along the way is also cute♪
The road to the park is the Kumano Kodo, a World Heritage Site.
Along the way, there are signs placed every 100 meters to show how far you are, making you realize that you are actually walking on the Kumano Kodo.
Along the way, Mr. Morita told us about the nature of this region, such as the plants and creatures that live in this mountain! I'm glad that I feel like I'm getting to know more than just this♪
As we were talking like that while climbing the mountain, time passed by in the blink of an eye. We have arrived at the venue!
At first, I was surprised by the park's use of the natural slope of the mountain, thinking, ``Slackline here!?'' but Morita says that this is the charm of this program.
There are countless Owase Hinoki trees growing here.
Being in the mountains of OwaseCity, where forestry is flourishing, also leads to learning about the industry and lifestyle of this region, and this park was created for that purpose.
Local elementary school students also visit to learn and have fun.
Mr. Morita immediately showed us how to cross the slack line as an example.
The slackline experience here is safe even for those who are not good at exercise, as there are reins that you can hold on to while walking!
Everyone was surprised to see Mr. Morita walking smoothly on the narrow width!
Girls aged 12 and 9 are also ready to take on the challenge!
First, for safety, put on a helmet and gloves, and attach the harness to your body.
Mr. Morita will also give you a thorough lecture on how to install it.
At first, we started with Mr. Morita following us!
Step by step on the swaying slackline...it's thrilling, but you'll be hooked!
Once I was relieved to have crossed the first one, I continued on and crossed the other one.
They barely made it through the first time, but once they got the hang of it, they gradually started taking on the challenge on their own.
"Through this experience, you can bring out the instincts that humans have, such as a sense of balance and walking," says Morita.
Indeed, both of them are clearly improving with each session!
My mom and dad, who were watching, mustered up the courage to cross!
Slacklining takes a lot of weight, so adults have a harder time than children! ?
While swaying and enjoying the laughter (lol), the adults also made it safely across!
Then, my 3-year-old child boldly took on the challenge, saying, ``I want to do it too!''
She is smiling like this while being supported by her dad!
It's great that even small children can have fun together like this with adult support.
Walking on a swaying slackline while maintaining your balance will strengthen your core.
The way you proceed is up to you, such as crab-walking at first, then straight forward! Gradually getting used to it and being able to progress smoothly gives me a sense of accomplishment and is fun.
Advanced players play by going up, down, and crossing the slackline!
It would feel good if I could play like that♪ I'll try my best.
After enjoying yourself and forgetting about the time, it's time to relax in a hammock.
Mr. Morita set up hammocks all over the forest.
This hammock, manufactured by a company in KihokuTown, is made from the same material used for fishing nets!
When you lean into a hammock, you can feel how sturdy it is.
Hammocks come in a variety of styles, such as tensioned tightly so you can lie down, or loosely stretched like a swing.
The whole family sat down and compared the different heights and scenery.
Find your favorite seating comfort!
When you suddenly look up at the sky, the sight of Owase Hinoki trees spreading all over is somehow mysterious.
It feels so good that you'll want to take a deep breath, and it will soothe your tiredness from playing on the slackline.
Spending time in the forest like this is a valuable experience that is hard to find in everyday life.
If you get hungry, you can eat your packed lunch while relaxing in a hammock!
Even the usual lunch is fresh just by being in a different location.
Enjoy the delicious air!
While I was relaxing in the hammock, Mr. Morita made me a hot drink.
``The Self-Travel Support System is a plan where you can combine multiple activities of your choice, but there is no time limit set and it is tailored to the wishes of the participants. You can take your time and take a close look at nature as it is. I want you to do that,” said Mr. Morita.
I want to try this and that too! While making this wish come true, we will support you in spending time relaxing and interacting with nature.
The families who tried it out today were already very interested, saying, ``Next time, I want to try other activities!''
Oyama House's ``Self-Travel Support System,'' a plan that allows you to enjoy the sea, mountains, and rivers in one day, allows you to create a course according to your wishes after applying.
Details of activities can be found on the homepage! If there's anything else you'd like to try, let's talk!
