Hello, this is Yuto.
I'm a beginner, but I'd like to take pictures of factory night views. If you research, you'll find a lot of photo spots...but what are the parking lots near each spot and how easy is it to take photos? Or, can't you enjoy factory photography other than night views? You may be concerned about such things.
In this article, we will introduce spots where even beginners can easily take pictures of night views of factories, and how to access them.
Of course, there is a parking lot, so you can visit with peace of mind.
First of all, there are two spots in Yokkaichi that we recommend for photographers who are new to photography or those visiting from outside the prefecture to take pictures of factory night views.
- KasumigauraPark (left photo)
- Yokkaichi Port Building Umiterasu 14 (photo right)
It's also a popular date spot.
By the way, there is a special article on the Mie Kanko website that introduces photo spots in the Yokkaichi Industrial Complex, so please take a look at that as well.
KasumigauraPark
This photo will be taken from the back side of Yokkaichi Dome.
It is best to set your car navigation to Yokkaichi Dome.
The camera settings for shooting a factory night view are as follows!
・Shooting mode M (manual)
・Shutter speed: 10-30 seconds
・Aperture (F value): 8 to 13
・ISO sensitivity: 100
・White balance: Fluorescent light
If you want to take a more serious look, try shooting in RAW instead of JPG.
RAW shooting requires editing, but it greatly expands the range of things you can do by editing the brightness and color of the photo.
This photo was taken at a shutter speed of over 2 minutes using an ND filter, which cuts out light and darkens the image, allowing for longer shutter speeds.
The flow of smoke and the smooth surface of the water created a fantastic finish.
The combination of the factory lights and the gradation of the dawn sky creates a world view that makes you feel as if you are in a game or movie.
A situation in which only one side of the subject is illuminated is called "unilateral light." Remember that one-sided light makes the subject look beautiful!

A big part of the appeal of Yokkaichi's night view of factories is that there are places where you can take pictures from a bird's-eye view.
Moreover, since it is from the observation deck, you can take pictures comfortably.
The night view of the factory along the coast is magical.

・About 15 minutes on foot from JR Kansai Main Line "Tondahama Station"
・About 11 minutes by car from Higashi-Meihan Expressway "Yokkaichi Higashi IC"
・About 9 minutes by car from Isewangan Expressway "Mie Kawagoe IC"
This chimney is a good accent.
The industrial complex has a different look than the night view.
If you're lucky, you'll be able to take a photo of the Yokkaichi Industrial Complex and the sunset, illuminating the clouds in red, a few minutes after sunset.
I think it's difficult to take photos of sunsets unless you go there often, but if you're up for the challenge, please give it a try.
On this day, there was a lot of snow in Yokkaichi, and the industrial complex was completely white.
This was a very rare weather condition, and I was able to take a photo that I am proud of.
The appeal of Yokkaichi Industrial Complex is that you can enjoy taking photos not only at night, but also in a variety of other situations.
summary
We have introduced two spots that we recommend when photographing the night view of factories in Yokkaichi.
These two have well-developed parking lots and are really easy to take pictures of, so I can recommend them to anyone.
For beginners, we recommend taking pictures of factory night views in order to learn how to operate the camera.
If you are interested, please give it a try.
