What is Ise-Shima National Park?

An active trip of 2 days and 1 night to enjoy Ise-Shima National Park! Let's enjoy the nature unique to this area, centered around TobaCity ♪

Ise-Shima National Park, located in eastern Mie Prefecture, is one of Japan's leading marine national parks, with a distinctive ria coastline. The complex coastline, dotted with small coves and headlands, is not only a fishing ground for abundant seafood. The calm waves make it ideal for kayaking, canoeing, and other sea activities.

The Ise/Toba area in the northern part of the park is home to popular facilities such as IseJingu and TobaAquarium. In Shima and Minamiise in the south, there are many photogenic spots such as Yokoyama Observatory, marine sports, fishing spots, etc., making it an area that everyone can enjoy.

It's also great to have fun learning about how local people have lived in the midst of nature, such as the ama culture and pearl farming.

Explanation of the areas covered in this course

Shown on the map are the spots you will visit on this course. (Total 9 locations)

In this vast Ise-Shima National Park area, the tour will be centered on TobaCity, a key transportation hub, and will include experiences to fully enjoy the nature and culture unique to this area, such as the AmaHut(Amagoya)experience and boat fishing experience, and some of the prefecture's most scenic spots, such as Meotoiwa(rocksofthemarriedcouple) at IseCity and the Yokoyama Observation Deck at ShimaCity.
This is an active course that we recommend for families and groups, so please use this course as a reference when you come to Ise-Shima National Park!

①We pray at Meotoiwa(rocksofthemarriedcouple) in the distance, as if they are close to each other, in hopes of having a good trip.

Meotoiwa(rocksofthemarriedcouple) (Tateishi) are two rocks that stand close together in Futamigaura, IseCity.

It has been known since ancient times as a place of worship at sunrise, and has been considered a ``sacred place where gods come from the land of the eternal world.''

Futamiokitama-JinjaShirine, where you can worship this Meotoiwa(rocksofthemarriedcouple) Iwa, enshrines Sarutahiko Okami, the god of path-opening, and you can not only meet figurines of ``Futami frogs'', which are said to be messengers of the gods, but also ``fake them safely''. There are also a number of auspicious charms such as "The things you lend will change" and "You will grow young."

Let's pray here that this journey will be a good one.

②Encounter adorable sea mammals at “Ise Sea Paradise”♪

After praying, head to the aquarium “Ise Sea Paradise” right next door!

``Look,'' ``Touch,'' and ``Enjoy'' at this aquarium, which has the theme of allowing you to interact with cute ``marine mammals'' such as walruses, harbor seals, sea lions, and penguins without any sense of distance.

*Each attraction is held at a designated time every day, so be sure to check the official website!

If you take the trouble to visit Ise Sea Paradise, be sure to stop by the indoor shopping facility “Ise Meotoiwa(rocksofthemarriedcouple) Meoto-Yokocho” that is attached to it!

Inside the facility, there are not only spots that look great on SNS and restaurants where you can casually enjoy the "delicious country of Ise," but also crafts that can only be found here, such as the "Goshuin book making experience" using Ise-Momen and the "Ise moss ball making experience." You can also experience it♪

③ Have a seafood lunch while chatting with the ama divers at “AmaHut(Amagoya)Hachiman-kamado ”♪

Time flies when you are soothed by the cute creatures. It's now the perfect time for lunch.

If you've come all the way to TobaCity, why not enjoy some fresh seafood caught in Ise-Shima while experiencing the Ama culture, which has been recognized as a Japanese Heritage site?

`` AmaHut(Amagoya)Hachiman-kamado'' is a facility that recreates the resting hut of real ama divers, located right next to the fishing grounds in osatsu TobaCity City.

Gather around the stove in a quaint hut, listen to heart-warming stories about Ama fishing, and enjoy freshly caught seafood hand-grilled right in front of your eyes.

Of course, the seasoning is done to perfection by a skilled Ama diver! We appreciate the blessings of the sea of Ise-Shima.

④ He can make any woman's wish come true! ? "Ishigami-san"

Among the stories I heard from the Ama divers, one that was particularly impressive was Ishigami-san (Shinmei-JinjaShrine), which has been believed by the Ama divers since ancient times to be able to grant one wish of a woman. ” is about God.

This shrine has become such a famous power spot that many female worshipers come from all over the country, as celebrities and athletes often visit it incognito. Of course, men can also visit the shrine, so why not stop by with your loved ones to make their wishes come true?

⑤ Experience craft art using seaweed and shellfish at the “Sea Museum”!

After saying goodbye to the Ama divers who warmly welcomed me, I felt as lonely as I was leaving my hometown, and the next place I visited was the ``Sea Museum.''

This facility, which has won the Japan Design Award and the Architectural Institute of Japan Award as a warm space that incorporates natural scenery, displays fishing gear used for ama fishing, fishing with nets, and wood. Approximately 60,000 folklore materials related to the sea, such as shipbuilding, are in the collection, and the scale of the exhibits is overwhelming from the moment you step into the entrance.

This region is blessed with a rich ocean, where the ocean and life are closely connected, and where a unique culture has been created over a long history. It was a valuable facility where you could experience the skills, wisdom, lifestyle, and culture of the people who lived here.

And in fact, here, not only are there exhibits, but there is also a wide variety of experience menus!

Experience craft art using seaweed and shellfish collected at the beach, such as sea magnets made by combining various shellfish, seaweed resin, seashell straps, and candles, and take home pieces that will become memories of your trip. Let's do it♪

We had a wonderful experience typical of this region, which values the sea.

⑥Stay overnight at Senpoukaku, which is surrounded by nature. Refresh yourself from the fatigue of the day in a peaceful space!

I have a powerful schedule the next day, so I checked in a little early today.

On the grounds of Senpokaku, a quiet inn located on a hill, there is a park rich in nature, including the Medaka School, where 5,000 medaka fish play in groups.

From this park, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Toba Bay, which has been selected as one of Toba's Top 10 Views, and depending on the season, you can enjoy the beautifully maintained wisteria trellis and cherry blossoms, allowing you to experience the nature of the area while staying within the grounds. I can.

There is also a footbath corner, so please spend a relaxing time in nature...♪

The charm of Senpokaku is not just a park full of nature.

In addition to the dishes made with Ise-Shima's famous seafood, the open-air bath ``Hatsubud no Yu'' has wonderful spring quality, space, and the reverberating sound of the suikinkutsu.

Eat a delicious dinner, enjoy a relaxing time that touches your five senses, and enjoy tomorrow to the fullest♪

⑦ Go fishing on a boat in the morning with the fishermen at “Umishima Yumin Club”!

The fatigue from yesterday was completely relieved by the ultimate relaxation, and on the morning of the second day, I arrived at the nearby port feeling the sea breeze typical of this town.

Today, we will experience "boat fishing" with active fishermen at Umishima Yumin Club! What kind of fish can you catch around here?

A fisherman says, ``At this time of year (around October), there are a lot of sea bream and rockfish around here. Most people catch about 20 fish!''

So, today's target was delicious-looking Thai!

*This tour is conducted in two seasons: (1) late April to mid-July, and (2) September to early December. It is said that you can often catch fish such as horse mackerel and mackerel from spring to summer.

Enjoy fishing with the fishermen for about 2 hours! The fishermen will teach you anything you don't understand, so even people who are new to fishing or families with children can easily participate.

Another great feature is that you can have the fish you catch cooked for you! (※Charged option)
Let's be thankful and grateful for the blessings of the sea.

I felt that the freshly caught fish I caught myself tasted better than usual♪

⑧ At Shirataki oaki, where the entire mountain is considered a sacred object, there is also a waterfall walk and forest sauna.

After filling your stomach with delicious seafood, why not head to the mountains?

Shirataki oaki, also known as Shirataki-san, is a sacred place where the entire mountain is considered a sacred object, and where ascetic ascetics once practiced.

It is said that the Kukai people chose this place for their training, and you can try out rare experiences such as walking through waterfalls and taking a forest sauna! (It is said that this is the only place in the Ise-Shima area where you can go to waterfalls.)

Let's try the challenge now♪

In general, takigyo refers to ``mental training to train the mind and wash away distractions.''

Is it a hard experience? You may be expecting this, but don't worry, you can adjust the amount of water with the gutter!

Being surrounded by nature and being hit by a waterfall was actually extremely soothing, cleansing my mind and body and helping me relieve my daily stress. Another great feature is that you can immediately warm up your cold body in the forest sauna.

After going to the waterfall, you will receive a commemorative tag and a certificate of completion, so you can show it off to your friends when you get home!

⑨End your trip with a spectacular view from Yokoyama Observation Deck.

As we descended the mountain, the end of our fun trip was nearing. Of course, you can end your trip with a spectacular view!

There are approximately 60 ojima floating in Ago Bay, which boasts one of the most beautiful ria coastlines in Japan, and peninsulas that jut out over and over again. Yokoyama Observation Deck offers a panoramic view of the beautiful sea and greenery that characterize the Ise-Shima region.

At the Yokoyama Tenku Cafe Terrace located on the observation deck, you can enjoy stylish drinks, sweets, and light meals, and a portion of the proceeds are used to preserve this wonderful scenery.

Let's enjoy the magnificent scenery while looking back on the memories of the trip with a drink in hand♪

The photo you take here is sure to become a cherished memory of your trip!
