Tekone sushi special feature! Introducing 4 restaurants where you can enjoy local cuisine from the Shima region

"Tekone-Zushi" has long been a popular local dish in the southern Shima region. It is said that fishermen in ShimaCity cut freshly caught bonito into thin pieces between fishing trips, sprinkled them with soy sauce, and mixed them with vinegared rice by hand. There is a theory that it was a hare meal that was served on a regular basis.

Tekone sushi has different flavors depending on the restaurant. We will introduce four carefully selected restaurants, ranging from simple old-fashioned dishes to dishes made with spiny lobster.

Ise Women's Taste Sushiku (IseCity) "Tekone Sushi Ume"

Taste of Ise women Sushihisa

``Sushihisa'' was founded in 1831 as a culinary inn and continues to be loved by people visiting Ise Shrine, located right next to Akafukumochi main store.
The shop closed after the war, but reopened as a restaurant in 1989. It's always crowded with people.
The menu item that has been loved by Sushikyu ever since it reopened is ``Tekone Sushi'' (pictured with plum 1,380 yen).
If the taste is even slightly different, we may hear from our regular customers, ``Has the chef changed?'' or ``Today's different than usual.'' Therefore, we are very nervous to check the condition of the bonito that day and make sure we get the best results. The landlady says that she is preparing the food while she is doing it.
The thickly sliced bonito is carefully prepared and marinated in an original dipping sauce that has no odor at all, and the soft vinegared rice for the tekone sushi is made with local rice grown in Mie Prefecture, and the faint scent of ginger. The scent brings happiness to your mouth.
It is the only private building built approximately 150 years ago using old materials from the shrine, and in a pure Japanese atmosphere that retains the atmosphere of an inn, you can enjoy cherry blossoms in the spring, autumn leaves in the fall, and other seasonal attractions. This is a restaurant where you can enjoy the view of the clear Isuzu River and the rural cuisine of Ise-Shima.
On the 1st of every month (except January), you can enjoy Sakubi porridge from early morning.

` IseJingu Naiku Oharai-Machi in front of Ise Oharai-Machi.
The shop was started by the founder, who is originally from Shima, to offer Tekonezushi, a local Shima hospitality dish, to people who come to worship at IseJingu, and to make it known to many people both inside and outside the prefecture.
``Special dish combination (1,620 yen)'' allows you to enjoy both Shima's famous tekonezushi and Ise's famous Ise-Udon.

Nanakoshi Chaya (TobaCity) “Recommended meal of tekone sushi and Ise-Udon”

Located at the foot of Shiroyama, the ruins of the Kuki Suigun Castle, and a 5-minute walk from TobaAquarium and MikimotoPearlIsland, Nanakoshi Chaya is a restaurant that you can easily stop by on your way to sightseeing or walking.
Founded as a udon restaurant. In order to satisfy customers who are not satisfied with udon alone, they came up with the idea of ``What is the best local Ise-Shima cuisine to pair with udon?'' and created ``Tekone'', a hospitality dish passed down from fishing families in Shima. Sushi”. Tekonezushi, which is marinated in a special sauce made from a unique combination of soy sauce, sake, and sugar, is now a specialty of this restaurant.
The recommended meal that allows you to enjoy both Tekonezushi and Ise-Udon is 1,500 yen and also includes grilled turban shells. You can also enjoy Tekonezushi as a single serving (830 yen).

Daioso (ShimaCity) “Fisherman’s Sushi Gozen”

At Daiman, a restaurant attached to a guesthouse with all rooms overlooking the ocean in the painterly town of Daiozaki, the fisherman's sushi (tekone sushi), which is unique to a fishing town, is popular.
The soy sauce sauce used to marinate the bonito is a secret sauce that has been passed down from our predecessors for 60 years. Every time I use it, I add more, and the taste and aroma become calmer and mellower. The black sesame and ginger mixed into the sushi rice are also a great flavor.
Fisherman's Sushi (900 yen tax included), eaten in an ama diver's sushi oke, is visually pleasing as well. We also recommend the Fisherman's Sushi Gozen (1,100 yen tax included), which comes with a small side dish and miso soup.
