Come enjoy a sauna activity in Mie Prefecture and experience the feeling of refreshment and relaxation.

What types of saunas are there?

Although it is generally called a sauna, there are many different types, such as far-infrared saunas, Finnish saunas, dry saunas, mist saunas, steam saunas, barrel saunas, and tent saunas.

Finnish saunas are characterized by their high humidity and low temperature, and by the Löyly method, where aromatic water is poured onto heated sauna stones. Mist saunas are saunas where the bathroom is filled with misted water, creating a hot and humid sauna.
In addition, tent saunas and barrel saunas allow you to enjoy the sauna inside a tent or a barrel-shaped hut, respectively.

How to use and choose a sauna?

I think everyone who wants to go to a sauna has their own goals and reasons.
I want to sweat and feel refreshed...
I want to heal my tired body... etc.

Be mindful of your health and check the characteristics of each sauna, such as its temperature and humidity, before making your selection.
We also recommend choosing a sauna depending on the situation, such as incorporating a sauna into your daily life, such as a sauna located in a facility like a super public bathhouse that is easy to use, or a sauna that you can enjoy in the open air of nature, or visiting a sauna facility of your choice on your vacation.

What does it mean to feel refreshed in a sauna?

Go into the sauna to wash off the sweat, cool down in the cold bath, and then take a break in the outside air.
The feeling of exhilaration that comes after repeating this cycle is generally referred to as "getting into the sauna." It is somewhat similar to the feeling of lightness and refreshment you get after exercising.
Please refrain from using the sauna after drinking alcohol, and be sure to drink plenty of water, so you can enjoy the sauna at a pace that suits your physical condition.

Hisetsu-no-takiFalls Finnish Sauna (KihoTown, Minamimuro District)

Warm up in the sauna and then head to the waterfall!

A wood stove is installed inside the specially made Finnish tent, and the tent fabric is made of flame-retardant material. After the sauna stones placed on the stove are heated sufficiently, water is poured on them, and the tent becomes filled with hot steam, creating a sauna-like atmosphere. This is called "löyly" in Finland.
At Hisetsu-no-takiFalls Campsite, you can enjoy the aroma by adding aromatics to the water used for this loyly. The humidity inside the tent is high and the temperature can be adjusted by the amount of firewood, so you can enjoy the experience for a long time.

Shirataki oaki Waterfall Ceremony & Forest Sauna (TobaCity)

In the tent sauna, you can warm and relax your body after being splashed with water during the waterfall meditation. You can also increase the perceived temperature further with a loyly. Sauna ponchos are available to rent, so even beginners can easily enjoy a full-fledged sauna experience.
After warming up in the sauna, you can cool down your heated body in the natural waterfall and river baths, soothed by the sound of the flowing water.
