Okuyama Atago Shrine

A healing place where you can feel God

The shrine complex of Okuyama Atago Shrine is located in a valley on the western slope of the Nunobiki Mountains.
Most of the Nunobiki Mountains are artificial forests of cedar and cypress, but they are of high value for ecological research because they are one of the few areas that still retain their old condition and are native to a point far below the lower limit of 1,000 meters in the central Honshu beech zone. It is considered a thing.
There is a hiking course in the vicinity that continues from AoyamaPlateau, making it a popular spot for hikers. The route that runs along a forest road from kachiji area and visits the shrine from Omotesando has a steep final climb that requires carrying a chain.
The main tall trees are beech trees that are about 150 to 200 years old and about 20 to 30 meters tall, and there are clusters of trees such as Japanese oak, Quercus oak, and sawtooth oak.Sub-tall trees include Shikimi and Japanese boxwood, as well as other vines and plants. They also grow in large numbers.
It was designated as a prefectural natural monument on March 31, 1973 (S48).

You can view and edit the sightseeing route (My Plan on My Page) that will take you around the selected spots.
