Kojinja Shrine
Saiwai Shrine is affectionately known as “Sainokami” by the locals.
The shrine began about 300 years ago when a shrine was dedicated to Sarutahiko Okami under an old cypress tree. At that time, the god was called ``Sae (Kami of Boundary)'', but later it was changed to ``Sai no Kami'', and it is said that it became the current ``Sainokami (Saiwai Shrine)''.
It is located on top of a small hill surrounded by forest, and stone steps lead to a number of white torii gates. At the top of the mountain, two straight trees stand as if protecting the shrine building, creating a sacred space.
As a rare shrine with the word ``happy'' in its name, many people visit this shrine in search of happiness. In addition to amulets for fertility, safe childbirth, and prayers for warding off evil spirits, you can also receive wooden daruma fortune-telling fortune slips.
●Okorigami
The Okorigami Shrine next to the shrine is dedicated to a large rock that is said to have been dug up from the ground in ancient times, and is said to have benefits such as attracting children, urinating in bed, and preventing fevers.
●Reitaisai Festival
The biggest event of the year is held on the first day of the monkey in March. The highlight is the unveiling of the Gohonzon. I wish you prosperity, peace, and a safe year ahead. There are food stalls lined up and the festival attracts a large number of people every year.
