女人堤防碑

この辺りは鈴鹿川と交流安楽川の合流点で、たびたび氾濫して被害が大きく、文政１２年頃、神戸藩に何度も修築を申し出たが許されず、女性たちが禁を犯し打ち首を覚悟で堤防を補強しました。 女性たちは一旦は処刑場に送られましたが赦免の早馬で救われたといいます。 この碑は、鈴鹿市汲川原町の鈴鹿川北岸堤防下に建っています。
