kawage Town Enkoji Temple

About 300m away from Honjoyama Youth Park, you will find the tranquil and quaint mountain temple, Enkoji. Said to have been founded in 1358 (early Muromachi period), this historic temple of the Tofukuji school of the Rinzai sect of Buddhism is surrounded by ancient trees and exudes a solemn atmosphere. In particular, during the autumn foliage season, the sight of the leaves towering over the mountain gate turning a ton of colors at once is truly spectacular. Tsukuda Shrine

Tsumita Shrine, also known as Nanto Kasuga Taisha Okumiya, is the shrine where Kashima Omikami, a deity of great deity, stopped off on his way from Hitachi Province (currently Ibaraki Prefecture) to Kasuga Taisha in Yamato Province (currently Nara Prefecture) about 1,250 years ago. The approach to the shrine is lined with ginkgo and maple trees that change color every year from November to December, creating a beautiful sight.
