Events and rituals are canceled for the grand festival, but Yanagihara Ohako Market will be held normally.
Yanagihara Kannon Senpukuji Grand Festival is held on February 18th every year.
In 2020, events and rituals such as firewalking and Goma bonfires will be canceled to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus.
OdaiTown, is the starting point of the Iseji Route of the World Heritage Site Kumano Kodo TamakiTown, Tamaru, then walk through TamakiTown and TakiTown, then cross Meoni Pass to OdaiTown and Tochiwara. This is a Shingon sect temple located on the way through.
The principal image is the Eleven-faced Kanzeon Bodhisattva.
It is affectionately known in the area as ``Yanaibara Kannon,'' and many people visit to seek blessings for safe childbirth and marriage.
On the 18th of every month, a morning market called ``Yanagihara Ohako Market'' is held at the same time to welcome worshipers, and the approach to the shrine and the grounds are crowded with many stalls.
The specialty sake manju is made with sake lees from Gensaka Sake Brewery, which is famous for Hachibei in Yanagihara Ward.
It seems that there are many repeat customers and it sells out quickly, so please purchase it as soon as possible.
The ``Curry Techiya'' kitchen car will also arrive. Please try our homemade curry with carefully selected spices and dashi.
