Explanatory text

This piece was modeled after a medieval Byzantine crown, said to be the most glamorous period in the history of crowns. It uses modern techniques to recreate the granulated goldwork on the dagger of Egyptian King Tutankhamun (1340s BC). Some of the pearls are not fixed but are attached as pendants, so they sway like ripples when you move. It uses one 16mm pearl, 795 other pearls, 17 diamonds, and 950g of 18k gold bullion.
