Explanatory text

KongoshojiTemple is said to have been founded by the monk Gyodai during the reign of Emperor Kinmei (late 6th century). In 825, Kobo Daishi Kukai built the main training hall for Esoteric Shingon Buddhism, enshrined Fukui Chiman Kokuzo Bosatsu as the principal image of worship, and named it Shohozan Tosatsuin Kongosho KongoshojiTemple.
