Matagi Chaya was acquired by nagashima Town from the mansion of local painter Masatane Sato, and was completed as an information exchange facility. On the grounds, the artist's beloved camellia varieties are displayed, as well as a dry landscape garden made from stones from the garden of the former nagashima Castle, providing a visual treat for visitors.
