Going up the Konobu River from Sarubino Onsen to kabuto, you will come across a rare old maple tree said to be 400 years old, with its roots stretched over a huge rock, near a bridge on a remaining part of the old prefectural road. It is a magnificent sight in the spring and autumn when the leaves turn red. In summer, people can cool off in the clear waters of the Konobu River flowing below, and in winter, the trees and snow create a tranquil scene.
