Explanatory text
From Hiramatsu-juku, you can walk north through the tranquil countryside to the Nenobi area. Since the end of the Meiji period, rice was ground (polished) in three places along the Higashitani River and two along the Hirakoide River, and waterwheels were used to grind rice, forming the basis of the villagers' diet. This waterwheel was built by volunteers from the ward as a reproduction of that time.
