Explanatory text

The ruins of a castle from the Northern and Southern Courts period, with beautiful rough stone walls. It is said that Kitabatake Chikafusa and Akinobu, father and son, built a fortress on Tamamaruyama and used it as a base for the Southern Court. In 1575, Oda Nobukatsu built Tamamaru Castle on a flatland mountain, and the castle was subsequently owned by the Inaba, Todo, and Kuno families before being abandoned in 1869.
