Explanatory text

The Yahya Festival is commonly known as "Yaya," an event in which young people from each town parade through the town every night during the festival. The name "Yaya" is said to come from the samurai's introduction during their duels in the Warring States period ("Yaya I am..."). On the final day, naginata sword swings and Owase-bushi hand dancing are performed. Dates: February 1st to 5th. Photo: A photo of the parade
