Explanatory text
It is a shrub that grows to 3m in height and has a cup-shaped tree shape. Legend has it that it grew from a cherry blossom seed that was left behind along with its scales by a dragon that is said to have lived in the pool in front of the temple as it ascended to heaven. This cherry blossom, called the Dragon King Sakura, is also known as "Fugenzakura" or "Fugenzo" and is a rare type of cherry blossom that blooms and leaves at the same time. It is designated as a natural monument of Mie Prefecture.
