Explanatory text

The name "Kanko" comes from a small drum called "Kakko." People wear ornaments called Shaguma on their heads and kakko drums (loincloths) and pray for bountiful harvests, safety of the family, protection from evil, and for the repose of their ancestors to the sound of the conch shell and drums. It is held every year on August 15th.
