Explanatory text

The name "Kanko" comes from a small drum called "Kakko." People wear ornaments called "Shaguma" on their heads and kakko drums around their waists, and to the sound of the conch shell and drums, they pray for bountiful harvests, safety of their families, protection from evil, and for the repose of their ancestors. It is held every year on August 16th.
