Explanatory text
"The Meoto Iwa Meotoiwa(rocksofthemarriedcouple) have been known since ancient times as a place of worship at sunrise. About 700 meters offshore, there is the Okitama Shinseki (sacred stone) associated with Sarutahiko-no-Okami. It is said to be the abode of the gods who descend, and a sacred place where gods from the land of eternity gather. Meotoiwa(rocksofthemarriedcouple) Iwa Rocks are regarded as a torii gate for worshiping the Okitama Shinseki and the sunrise. The male rock is 9 meters high, the female rock 4 meters high, and the large shimenawa (sacred rope) that connects Meotoiwa(rocksofthemarriedcouple) Iwa Rocks is 35 meters long, stretching 16 meters to the male rock and 10 meters to the female rock, with a distance of 9 meters between them. Every year, the Oshimenawa-hari ritual is held on May 5th, September 5th, and on Saturdays and Sundays in mid-December. "
