Explanatory text

This fireworks display, unique to the water town of Kuwana, began in 1934 to commemorate the completion of the Ise Ohashi Bridge. It is held every year in late July, and includes thousands of star mines launched from the sandbars of the Ibi River, underwater fireworks, Niagara fireworks, and 14 two-shaku fireworks, the largest in the Tokai region, this year. The underwater star mines are so beautiful and splendid that they can be said to be the ultimate in beauty. Approximately 9,000 fireworks will light up the night sky.
